Any recommendations for a good carry knife?

2020-12-01 13:22:30 UTC

I just bought a OKC RAT mod. 1. I have not used it a lot yet, but it is buttery smooth and the blade is exceptionally sharp out of the box. I purchased the one with AUS-8 steel, as I tend to work around a lot of grease and salt and personally have really sweaty hands. We will see how it holds up! <:KEK:726877368601411624>

I will say, the little ball-spring indent thing in the liner lock that prevents the knife from opening in the pocket is a bit stiff. I don't think this is a bad thing per-se, as some of my other knifes (namely my kershaws) have had a tendency to pop open in the pocket. The only reason I mention this is because if you like to flip your knives for hours on end (like I do xD), then your thumb might get a bit sore.

Otherwise, I would say it's a non-issue.

^this is the RAT I was talking about

2020-12-01 14:22:56 UTC

Great edc knife, I love the hollow ground blade, it holds an edge well. Carried one as a backup to my Ka-Bar

2020-12-01 14:23:58 UTC

G10 handle scales are nice and grippy

2020-12-01 14:38:18 UTC

ye, good scales are worth their weight in gold. One of the biggest gripes people have about the OKC RAT is that they are sold with rather slick scales.

2020-12-01 14:38:58 UTC

I personally prefer flat ground for *most* applications, but that's just me.

2020-12-01 14:39:09 UTC

a good hollow-ground is wicked.
