I think everyone needs religion, but not every religion is for everyone ya know

2020-11-07 23:28:00 UTC

I’m looking for something to follow atm, bc Christianity hasn’t worked out for me 😔

2020-11-07 23:29:09 UTC

remember when Kamala lied and said Joe was a PRACTICING catholic

2020-11-07 23:31:30 UTC

@Draconem_Dominus May I ask what didn't work out with Christianity for you?

2020-11-07 23:32:46 UTC

I am bisexual and don’t believe in “saving yourself for marriage” and was pushed away by all Christians I sought acceptance from as unnatural and sinful for my partial gayness, and when I prayed and prayed for forgiveness and change, I was never answered

2020-11-07 23:34:06 UTC

I was never answered by the god I was told to worship as good and forgiving and loving, and I didn’t understand why the Bible said some pretty terrible things and had some really bad stuff in it if this religion was supposed to be about love and acceptance and faith

2020-11-07 23:34:47 UTC

I was pushed away by Christians and I never received anything from the Christian god, so I am searching for someone who answers

2020-11-07 23:36:13 UTC

If people claiming to be Christian pushed you away while you were seeking support and help, then either they are deceived into thinking they are Christians but not, or they're not practicing it well

2020-11-07 23:37:21 UTC

If I may ask, what denomination where you? And also what were the terrible things in the Bible?
I'm more than happy to talk with you about it

2020-11-07 23:38:00 UTC

And when God forgives you, he doesn't always speak back. You just have to have faith that he forgave you.

2020-11-07 23:38:02 UTC

Perhaps I can help in some way.
I won't force anything on you

2020-11-07 23:38:21 UTC

I believe I was raised Lutheran if I’m not mistaken

2020-11-07 23:39:26 UTC

incest, the line used to hate gay people, slavery/indentured servitude, patriarchal power over women, the idea that women are less than their husbands

2020-11-07 23:39:42 UTC

At least that’s how I’ve perceived many things in the Bible as

2020-11-07 23:39:58 UTC

There are great things too don’t get me wrong

2020-11-07 23:40:49 UTC

Jesus was and is an amazing person, probably one of the only truly good people on earth, and his message of love all is amazing, but the thing is many Christians, at least the ones I’ve been exposed to, choose what to follow and what to discard

2020-11-07 23:41:31 UTC

Well, the line used to hate gay people would be misused, as although it is wrong to us, we're told told to love everyone, even if they are an enemy and persecuting us

2020-11-07 23:41:34 UTC

Quick note on slavery in biblical times by the Jews. It wasn't the type of slavery you think of today, it was more servants that were treated well and would last at most 8 years and everyone would be set free during the Jewish holiday that occured every 8 years.

2020-11-07 23:41:55 UTC

I’ve never heard that before actually

2020-11-07 23:42:00 UTC

Interesting

2020-11-07 23:42:11 UTC

And debt eviscerated during the same holiday.

2020-11-07 23:43:11 UTC

As for slavery, in addition to what David said, there isn't (that I know of) that God says it's perfectly fine to have slaves, but it seems more of mentioning them when He talks about diverse groups a people

2020-11-07 23:43:51 UTC

I also can’t believe that a god would create someone to be sinful, and as truly gay people don’t choose to be gay (I sure as hell didn’t), he thus made them have such proclivities knowing they would be perceived as wrong to his people

2020-11-07 23:43:53 UTC

More of "if this is the case" rather than "you can do that all you want"

2020-11-07 23:44:07 UTC

He didn't create us to be sinful

2020-11-07 23:44:19 UTC

Then why is being gay a sin?

2020-11-07 23:44:34 UTC

God created us to be perfect like him, but then Satan tricked Eve into disobeying God.

2020-11-07 23:44:54 UTC

God doesn't want anyone to sin but he gave us the freedom to.

2020-11-07 23:45:16 UTC

It's a sin because it wasn't what God had intended for his creation.

2020-11-07 23:46:13 UTC

But I didn’t choose to be gay, so why was I created inherently wrong

2020-11-07 23:46:26 UTC

We started out sinless, then Adam and Eve sinned, bringing it onto all the world. I don't believe He makes people gay or that people choose to be gay, but over time, as the world corrupted, and man with it (as we used to live to around 900 years at first) things such as that became more common

2020-11-07 23:46:41 UTC

That’s an interesting way to look at it

2020-11-07 23:46:54 UTC

You weren't created like that. Satan was just able to get to you from the start of your life.

2020-11-07 23:47:04 UTC

So I was doomed from the start

2020-11-07 23:47:04 UTC

As for being gay/bi, I have had discussions with other Christians and it's my belief that is is the actions of the sexual desire rather then the proclivity that is the sin.

2020-11-07 23:47:13 UTC

Doomed? No, not at all

2020-11-07 23:47:22 UTC

But God will still forgive you. He sent Jesus to die for you're gayness.

2020-11-07 23:47:45 UTC

So that way you can still join him if you believe that Jesus died for you

2020-11-07 23:48:41 UTC

Gay isn't any worse then any other sin, all sins are equal and have the same punishment.

2020-11-07 23:48:59 UTC

Well if satan got to me before I even was aware enough to “sin”, then there’s nothing I can really do about it. I’m not going to shut out part of myself because some people perceive it as wrong. Love is the purest emotion ever, how can consensual love be wrong

2020-11-07 23:49:00 UTC

But they can also all be forgiven
