it stops the wheels from bouncing too much when they would usually skip

which can also happen a little in turns and cause the outer wear you're experiencing

I’ve never felt my rear end bounce or skip

Then again my car has an open rear diff, not an LSD that you probably have in your mustang

well it always does to some extent, especially if you take corners fast.

and the diff doesn't effect that as much

mostly the suspension type since IRS use cradles
