Or go all out simplistic cartoon style, that's what I did cause hyperrealistic not my jam :) I like other's hyperrealistic works though

@Yukon Ive been trying to meld the two, a sort of semi-realistic comic art. I figure that if I could make it real enough, Id be satisfied. But I guess I might be fixated on that.

My issue has always been faces, I can never get them right.

I guess. I did this one with water and alcohol-based markers, then touched up with digital. It's actually two images overlaid on each other, then melded together to appear as one (I messed up the face on the second drawing, but that was basically the only issue I had with it)

The character is not mine originally. Its more of a fan art. The Star Wars aspect is mine though.

I'm working on converting it fully digital.

Learning art is definitely something I am dedicating myself to, since I have always appreciated it, but I get frustrated due to my perfectionism... I only see my issues and then I begin to lose hope until a random burst of inspiration comes along.

I got some "quarantine special" instructional videos for cheap on things like light and shadow, the human body and other thing I felt like I needed to work on. I think they're helping.

Always remeber that such videos or classes should be just a guidline to learn the technique

Don't let it box in your creativity

Yeah. I've been figuring that out. The main one was light and shadow. But other ones helped me with things like proportion (that's the first figure that I've ever drawn proportionally correct).

For about $3 per video series, I'd say it's better than any of my art classes in school... except my college art class. Brilliant teacher who taught me more about becoming a better artist in 3 weeks than every previous art class I've ever taken.

Don't get to draw what you want to. My mom went to art school, and she says it kills creativity

All my art classes were like that too, except college. This guy literally got his teaching assignment a week before classes started, he refused to teach techniques and always told us a general idea of the assignment (draw something in this style, etc.) And he said what you choose to do and the subject is up to you. If you put in effort, its an A. It really took pressure off and helped with being able to develop your preferred style.

He also taught me how to merge my extremely logical brain with art. And helped me trust my emotions more (which may or may not have also helped with some things I'd been repressing).
