Hope they net the fairings this time
they might be using starlink now
Hmmm maybe but the issue with the the camera relay system wasn't satellite speed
No server advertising
It was the satellite tracker onboard the ASDS
Because to get HD video relayed, it has to use a point to point based transmission relay
And there's a antennae tracker onboard to do that, but vibration make it struggle to keep a lock on the satellite
So I would assume they found a way to relay video transmission via a omni directional antenna? Either way very impressive
But yes, wouldn't be surprised if they use starlink for the telemetry
Fairings have been captured!
Picture isn’t great, but I watched the launch from Cocoa Beach
Whoa that's so cool
Also nice!
You could really hear and feel the rumble of the rocket
It was awesome
Yes!!!!
History
Yes baby they got em both yeet!!!!
I wonder what upgrades they'll do to the fairings. New fairings are really cool with the aluminum tips, rcs, and chutes. They're practically spaceships of their own
Dude, fairing surfing sounds like an extreme sport
Haha
I saw close ups before
And they use spread tow weave carbon fiber!
It looks so cool! My rockets use twill weave, but spread tow sure weave carbon fiber sure gives the more "aerospace" feel
I believe they use spread tow on the landing legs too, along with alumnium honeycomb for the insides
Either way, it was a pitty seeing those practically handlaid carbon fiber fairings being thrown away
This has been a surprisingly active channel. Good to know there are a lot of fellow av geeks out there.
Absolutely
Yeah! Lol.
Trial and error is the key to success
@Dr Badass PhD more than AV I like spaceflight. Space is the place
Me too @Yukon
Carbon fiber around PLA for TVC mount Rev 2!
And some hexagonal cuts to reduce weight. Hopefully it will be able to withstand the impulse of a H class model rocket motor
