what would be one?

2020-12-05 02:14:53 UTC

I read a very interesting book about the 1918 Influenza that talked a good bit about both sides not having journalists report all the cases to keep the morale up until the war was over

2020-12-05 02:15:05 UTC

war time is all about propaganda

2020-12-05 02:16:24 UTC

well, back then the war is the money machine, the big story, right? right now, in peace time, the money machine (for the media) is now the virus&Trump -- there isn't a hot war we're in right now.

2020-12-05 02:17:49 UTC

Can you explain why Trump downplayed the virus ?

2020-12-05 02:18:14 UTC

Cause thats what his experts were saying in the beginning lol

2020-12-05 02:18:21 UTC

He didn't. Keeping a level head and not shitting yourself is a good thing to do with an unknown virus

2020-12-05 02:19:00 UTC

He kept saying that the US is rounding the curve when it wasn't

2020-12-05 02:19:07 UTC

anyone else find it funny that Trump ”downplayed“ the virus but he also said he thought it would be 12-18 months when everyone else thought it would be 2 weeks

2020-12-05 02:19:24 UTC

What do you mean?

2020-12-05 02:19:48 UTC

I know that he definitely took some action, but it might not have been enough

2020-12-05 02:19:54 UTC

Trump said on the news he thought the pandemic would be 12-18 months long, everyone else thought it would be a few weeks long

2020-12-05 02:20:09 UTC

We did. After two months it was well after the peak, on the endtrails

2020-12-05 02:20:28 UTC

The cases are still going up

2020-12-05 02:20:31 UTC

Hello all.

2020-12-05 02:20:47 UTC

yes... because it is cold&flu season

2020-12-05 02:20:49 UTC

Are you calling a dedicated task force with the VP not enough?

2020-12-05 02:21:23 UTC

I think trump could've handled it better but I think we shouldn't go to lockdown

2020-12-05 02:21:33 UTC

This disease has a 0.001% mortality for 45 and below, 1.25% for 45 to 65, and 5% for 65 and above. It's hardly a problem

2020-12-05 02:21:59 UTC

depends when are you referring him "downplaying" the virus? in january? he shut down travel and mention covid in the end-of-the-year even (where nancy pelosi tore up the paper). in february? no case. in march is when the virus hits. if you track back in time, he promised and delivered everything the governors want

2020-12-05 02:22:01 UTC

Azure you mustn't forget that there is only so much Trump could have done without harming our rights like what the Democrats have done

2020-12-05 02:22:03 UTC

if we still had the pandemic going now in an alternate reality we wouldve had a jump in cases now because it will spread in a winter enviorment

2020-12-05 02:22:10 UTC

Hmm.

2020-12-05 02:22:39 UTC

Not allowed to congregate. Not allowed to go to church (1st amendment) the lockdown and restrictions are direct violation of our rights

2020-12-05 02:23:26 UTC

“Liberal” governors that dont allow their citizens basic constitutional rights

2020-12-05 02:23:28 UTC

technically, it is. the cases are shooting up, the death rate are similar as previous during lockdown. the economic is shutting down in different states, while others are open up and operating as normal. so US is rounding the corner, some people don't want to believe it

2020-12-05 02:24:13 UTC

Mhm

2020-12-05 02:24:35 UTC

you can absolutely criticize many world leaders for not doing enough. but when the lockdown that was initially set as 15 days extended to 1 full year, you kind of doubt the experts

2020-12-05 02:24:43 UTC

Why do you think the cases in America shot up quick starting in March?

2020-12-05 02:25:05 UTC

That's how a virus generally works

2020-12-05 02:25:06 UTC

if Trump did it so bad, why dont we talk about China who started this whole thing?

2020-12-05 02:25:12 UTC

Initial wave. It went as quick as it came

2020-12-05 02:25:25 UTC

A pandemic ... a few weeks long?

2020-12-05 02:25:27 UTC

With no built up immunity of any kind in a country. The beginning of a virus is going to be more drastic

2020-12-05 02:25:36 UTC

Trump was right in that sense

2020-12-05 02:25:38 UTC

It's hard to credit it as effective, here in MB were in a terrible lockdown and case numbers are the same

2020-12-05 02:25:56 UTC

granted school is still open but we are in full lockdown basically

2020-12-05 02:26:02 UTC

Oof.

3-4 days before the symptoms showed (assuming the "initial" patient 0 isn't actually not asymptotic)

2020-12-05 02:26:13 UTC

I'm not anti-Trump, I'm just wondering about it

2020-12-05 02:26:16 UTC

I mean I’m not offended tbh
