what does male mean? ah yes it's related to sex

2020-12-28 18:39:07 UTC

men is the plural of a man so

2020-12-28 18:39:14 UTC

1 and 1 together makes them wrong

2020-12-28 18:39:47 UTC

I'm not gonna bother trying to dig deeper sorry

2020-12-28 18:39:58 UTC

hmm?

2020-12-28 18:40:26 UTC

you think men and women are gender things?

2020-12-28 18:40:45 UTC

maybe it was the definition I found online

2020-12-28 18:41:09 UTC

I found others where men and women are related to sex, it's complicated

2020-12-28 18:41:28 UTC

my definition came from Oxford English so might have been changed during 1776 to gender lol

2020-12-28 18:42:32 UTC

yea I think the definition wouldn't vary this much a decade ago

2020-12-28 18:43:06 UTC

I'm trying to see which website I got the definition from brb

2020-12-28 18:44:38 UTC

so is boy and girl also a gender to them?

2020-12-28 18:45:07 UTC

a male child or young man. according to google

2020-12-28 18:45:16 UTC

yeah so

2020-12-28 18:45:33 UTC

seems like they were just lazy and didn't bother typing into google

2020-12-28 18:46:00 UTC

I guess they omitted it to make one gender and another sex

2020-12-28 18:46:10 UTC

it's also my fault for trusting that

2020-12-28 18:46:29 UTC

i mean a good question to ask is are boy and men both genders?

2020-12-28 18:46:39 UTC

so your gender changes as your grow up or

2020-12-28 18:46:57 UTC

men isn't age dependant whereas boy is

2020-12-28 18:47:02 UTC

not sure if that says antything

2020-12-28 18:47:10 UTC

a man is age dependant no?

2020-12-28 18:47:37 UTC

well it's more common with older people so yea I guess

2020-12-28 18:47:38 UTC

don't call a 1 yo girl a women

2020-12-28 18:47:42 UTC

you call her a girl

2020-12-28 18:48:31 UTC

I was thinking more so as people as a whole. like men's right, not boys rights

2020-12-28 18:49:07 UTC

well good point

2020-12-28 18:49:30 UTC

but for a single person or just 5 people, better to say men or boy based off age

2020-12-28 18:49:35 UTC

but boys and girls have their rights dictated by their parents to some extent

2020-12-28 18:49:39 UTC

so you could argue it like that

2020-12-28 18:49:48 UTC

of course there are rights for people who are younger but

2020-12-28 18:49:50 UTC

if it's a lot than men would be more

2020-12-28 18:50:16 UTC

I see your argument, the men right is a government and socieity level

2020-12-28 18:51:24 UTC

agree. which is where it gets dicey. people that have awful parents would be more likely to view parents as negative and removable, while people with decent or good parents would be more likely to view parents as important. furthermore, "awful"/"decent" is different depending by perspective or influences

2020-12-28 18:51:26 UTC

like say if you're going to sexist to your son or something then that doesn't really matter compared to the workplace

2020-12-28 18:51:30 UTC

sure it's not good but

2020-12-28 18:51:46 UTC

in other words, if there's a huge variations with ages, than use men, if there isn't used one based off which one makes sense

2020-12-28 18:52:30 UTC

schools really should teach how to parent

2020-12-28 18:52:55 UTC

well i feel like boys and men are used often and that's why they're in the language and most often you can say one or the other

2020-12-28 18:53:19 UTC

say at work you'll use men and women compared to school you'll use boys and girls

2020-12-28 18:53:23 UTC

it makes sense why boys and men exist
