I wouldn't use ze/zem because the point of a pronoun is to easily know if it's a Male or female. If someone uses they than people will think more than 1 person or unknown but unknown gender is usually not the case

Also he/she/they pronouns are very versatile. Ze/zim isnt outside of talking to a person
