EXACTLY.

2020-10-19 14:22:44 UTC

The neodictature is here.

2020-10-19 14:23:04 UTC

And our (surprise surprise) liberal government was prolly the best at it

2020-10-19 14:24:19 UTC

I hope libertarians vote for Trump and the republicans, the dems are pushing for more forced lockdowns

2020-10-19 14:24:45 UTC

Yeah, I bet that our national liberal government would lockdown us too

2020-10-19 14:24:54 UTC

They've already locked down Bucharest

2020-10-19 14:26:11 UTC

In the UK we have our left wing party labour they're trying to push for more nationwide lockdowns as well

2020-10-19 14:27:08 UTC

Ya know what's the funny thing? The right-wing party is doing all of that

2020-10-19 14:27:12 UTC

😆

2020-10-19 14:27:27 UTC

The social democrats and national liberals just call each other names

2020-10-19 14:27:39 UTC

But they're really the same shit to most Romanians

2020-10-19 14:29:59 UTC

The national liberals are the more conservative though?

2020-10-19 14:30:15 UTC

which one is in power at the moment

2020-10-19 14:30:33 UTC

Yeah, but... theory does not equal practice.

2020-10-19 14:30:59 UTC

In theory, **yes**, they should be the more conservative one. BUT!

2020-10-19 14:31:14 UTC

Due to Romania's past as a socialist country...

2020-10-19 14:32:10 UTC

They're pretty much the same party for the most part

2020-10-19 14:32:22 UTC

just slight differences

2020-10-19 14:32:22 UTC

I mean, yeah

2020-10-19 14:32:34 UTC

That's for sure

2020-10-19 14:32:48 UTC

A lot of social democrats came to the other party for some reason

2020-10-19 14:33:16 UTC

Social democracy is a nice way of saying "we'll keep socialism, but we pretend it's capitalism."

2020-10-19 14:33:22 UTC

I think the two party system we have in the US is cancer/divisive. People have to jump on board with a lot of nonsense positions on issues based on the one that matters most to them.

2020-10-19 14:34:26 UTC

It’s a nuance vs coalition between parties to get stuff done. But I think it’s part of why we are so polarized. I’m economic conservative and socially moderate

2020-10-19 14:35:05 UTC

I mean, Romania's polarized as well, but we have many, many more parties.

2020-10-19 14:35:23 UTC

Some parties are just irrelevant, while others are too overrated.

2020-10-19 14:35:54 UTC

The only alternative would be a one party system, I guess you could still vote on the elected representatives

2020-10-19 14:36:18 UTC

If overturning roe v wade meant never winning another election, I would suggest not to do it. Lest you give power to the left on a more permanent basis. Because the majority of people aren’t in favor of making abortions illegal. But this is the issue we allow to drive party affiliation

2020-10-19 14:36:21 UTC

Nah, the only alternative would be a no-party system. All of them shall be independent.

2020-10-19 14:36:50 UTC

Instead of parties, there'd be some kind of groups, you know?

2020-10-19 14:37:06 UTC

But the focus shall be on the person elected, not on the party.

2020-10-19 14:37:45 UTC

Yeah I think if the libertarians and one or two more had some money and some air time people could be more precise in showing what’s important to them even if some of these wind up mostly voting together strategically.

2020-10-19 14:38:21 UTC

The issue is the people supporting the president are usually more important than president themselves (and that’s usually the party). Not including Trump

2020-10-19 14:38:49 UTC

Yeah, the person could be awesome, but he'd be supported by corrupts like Soros

2020-10-19 14:39:20 UTC

The way things are so polarized into black and white needs to get fixed. So it feels like one country and multiple opinions are tolerated

2020-10-19 14:39:33 UTC

A multi-party system is really it. 3rd parties should be allowed to be standalone parties that have real chances

2020-10-19 14:40:02 UTC

Yeah social media is driving the tribalism much worse

2020-10-19 14:40:05 UTC

The swamp does not want any third parties disrupting their power duopoly

2020-10-19 14:40:14 UTC

3rd parties are automatically having lesser chances than the big parties. What's up with the US and duopolies?

2020-10-19 14:40:39 UTC

Great minds 😄

2020-10-19 14:40:45 UTC

Democrats and Republicans, Android and iOS, Windows and macOS, PC and Mac etc.
