idk about #10, tho, I don't fuck with fractions
i think for #10, you convert the - 8 into 40/5 (reduce the fraction, its just 8 but in fraction form) and then youll have
-16/5 = r/3 - 40/5
hopefully that makes it easier to deal with?
I suck at math big time... mainly algebra... but I remember some of the simpler stuff
Would you times everything by 3 to isolate r?
@HUNTER4639 with what I did to #10, is that any easier to figure out?
Algebra 2 @Wardog
I think so
hmm. so with the r situation, youd times everything by the inverse I think... that part is a little foggy to me...
so youd want to do something like multiple everything with the denominator of 3 by 5, and everything with the denominator of 5 by 3 (so it all comes out to something over 15.
I forget exactly how to do that though. and fuck algebra 2. my worst math class and worst subject ever... only class I EVER came anywhere close to failing.
Ehh Geometry was harder for me loool then again this is only the 2nd week of Algebra 2...
Alrighty thanks for the help everyone <:TrumpSmile:720121948088041513>
bruh, I rocked at geometry. it seems like a lot of people are really good at algebra, OR geometry.
happy to help man

#10 r is 72/5
-16/5 = r/3 -8
Add 8 to both sides, multiply 8 by 5 to slide it into the top of the fraction on the left
(40-16)/5=r/3
24/5=r/3
Multiply both sides by 15 to cancel out both denominators
72=5r
divide both by 5, get r
72/5=r
Do fuck am I late to the party
wait how do you go from 24/5=r/3 to 72=5r? its been a while, but I dont understand how exactly how got to that
you would multiply 24/5 by 15/15 right?
5 cancels out left bottom, so 24*3
oh wait, 15/1
nah, 15/1
ohhhh okay. i remember now
not 15/15 because thats 1, 15/1 makes 360/5 which reduces to 72
okay
fuck I hate math lol
I'm fine with it until they add the greek letters, fuck that noise
and I guess I was wrong? multiplying both sides by 15 works the same as multiplying both sides by the inverse to get common denominators, right?
It's the same
I just said 15 cause it is the end result
okay, but doing it by 15 is quicker and has less steps
Yep
gotcha!
Mark out he denominators and cross-apply them
Or something
I may not be sober
ohhhhh wait, I see, you skipped steps and just went ahead and multiplied the numerators by 15 instead of doing the shit I said by multiplying all of them. same exact thing, but you skipped a couple steps. one of my greatest weaknesses in math was skipping steps. couldnt skip any of them without getting horribly confused
My brain just auto pilots on most stuff
