I don't know how much you guys know about the laws in Europe (including my socialist country), but the most important highlights are:

1. Police doesn't have any authority over criminals, is not allowed to shoot at them, not allowed to kill them in self-defence, and is basically just a costume parade;
2. Civilians are NOT allowed to possess arms (except for very special cases), are NOT allowed to carry arms, and are NOT allowed to defend their lives if attacked.

Once they destroy morale of your police, they'll go after civilians. They already have education and media. They're playing by the textbook, and your constitutional rights are next.

And don't hold your faith in your constitution, there are numerous ways to trump on your rights without changing the constitution.
