he said it was the coolest thing ever to see them take off from the catapult with afterburners and all

which, yeah there are probably good reasons why the the interceptor version never really entered service, cuz the platform already was pretty expensive to build as well as to maintain because of warping in the hull at supersonic speeds that caused fuel leaks

my favorite part of the f22 is that it can reach supersonic speeds WITHOUT afterburners

yeah, I heard that they had it built so that it would leak on the ground but thighten up while flying

Also the fuel doesn't leak at supersonic speeds in the sr71, the expansion of the hull ensures that
