Lol

2020-10-17 15:06:55 UTC

I was just saying

2020-10-17 15:08:28 UTC

I worked at a place where it was just me and 2 other people really laid back all we did was walk around taking inventory

2020-10-17 15:08:41 UTC

Jacc, we arent a direct democracy, the electoral college is there to still let the smaller states have a say in the election so that it is not mob rule, does your individual vote matter, in the grand scheme no, but if everyone votes the electoral college takes into account what the people are voting for in their districts.

2020-10-17 15:09:28 UTC

Probably

2020-10-17 15:09:31 UTC

The electoral college is the only way every state can have a say in who gets elected @sophiaaaa

2020-10-17 15:09:33 UTC

removing the electoral college does not immediately make the government a direct democracy

2020-10-17 15:09:37 UTC

That sounds awesome

2020-10-17 15:09:51 UTC

Yes, but it would make it more mob rule

2020-10-17 15:09:55 UTC

no it wouldn't

2020-10-17 15:09:58 UTC

it literally wouldn't

2020-10-17 15:10:03 UTC

Where the big cities have all the say

2020-10-17 15:10:09 UTC

How wouldnt it

2020-10-17 15:10:12 UTC

we're a democratic republic or a constitutional representative republic

2020-10-17 15:10:15 UTC

but most of the districts r gerrymandered?

2020-10-17 15:10:15 UTC

depending on who you ask

2020-10-17 15:10:23 UTC

We are a constitutional republic

2020-10-17 15:10:27 UTC

no matter how you try and spin it it won't become mob rule

2020-10-17 15:10:43 UTC

isn't the point of voting that everyone has a vote

2020-10-17 15:11:00 UTC

Then what will it become when thw major check on distribution of power for states its taken out

2020-10-17 15:11:03 UTC

not to make it whoever has power can gerrymander the districts to keep powr

2020-10-17 15:11:40 UTC

the electoral college may seek to give smaller states a bigger voice but it doesn't seem to do that in practice

2020-10-17 15:11:40 UTC

Well gerrymandering is wrong, and doesnt happen nearly as much anymore i believe

2020-10-17 15:11:44 UTC

Wut

2020-10-17 15:11:49 UTC

How

2020-10-17 15:11:55 UTC

This is so boring

2020-10-17 15:11:58 UTC

Its population based

2020-10-17 15:12:11 UTC

This is not history class

2020-10-17 15:12:17 UTC

2:00

2020-10-17 15:12:31 UTC

Ninni, then leave until a new convo starts

2020-10-17 15:12:39 UTC

No

2020-10-17 15:12:40 UTC

I cant watch the video currently

2020-10-17 15:12:47 UTC

I dont have a life

2020-10-17 15:13:01 UTC

the electoral college does not work anymore. It had its use when the US was a loose federation of territories and states. Maybe it was helpful when we didn't have trains or telegraphs.

2020-10-17 15:13:30 UTC

Ugh

2020-10-17 15:13:54 UTC

So your saying because of near instant communication, and the widespread of information that we can now take out the electoral college in favor of every vote matters individually

2020-10-17 15:14:10 UTC

What would replace it

2020-10-17 15:14:39 UTC

It won't be that easy. I am in favor of putting in a system of ranked choice vote before i get rid of the electoral college.

2020-10-17 15:14:56 UTC

I dislike how we can elect someone to president when they only have 22% of the total votes in the US.

2020-10-17 15:14:59 UTC

Ninni this is a political discord, and this is a political topic, stop putting queasy reactions to the convo you don't like
