well, most people would put whoever they want to become president as their first choice. If their first choice does not become president then their vote goes to their second choice and so on and so forth

in theory that destroys the mentality of "lesser of two evils", that is, "I like x candidate but I think y candidate (who i despise) will win so I will vote for z candidate (of who I am indifferent or despise less)

you can be limited to a scale of three candidates that you can choose

I think thats more of a problem with America only really having 2 parties

ranked choice is the same as, if you're voting third party, you're wasting your vote, so vote blue so we can get rid of the electoral college to give third parties a larger chance at getting the presidency
