Social democracy -> Socialist theory applied to a capitalist framework. Social democrats support social programs such as welfare. The key to having a "socialist utopia" is with the workers revolution. Social democrats believe capitalism to be the best system to amass wealth, but flawed in redistribution. With large social programs they are able to keep their workers happy, thus preventing a socialist shithole country. Socialists also seem to despise social democrats for this exact reason. They view what they're doing as a betrayal to socialists and the workers.

Democratic socialist -> literally what it sounds like. Socialism with democracy. No capitalism, but democracy.

(Constitutional Republic) You vote for someone to not rule over you but to take power and listen to the people for change.
