Not really

2020-10-30 15:33:15 UTC

> @Jedi why? It’s just popular vote?
@Kaladin but electoral college always beats the popular vote

2020-10-30 15:33:25 UTC

Electoral college is what really matters

2020-10-30 15:33:28 UTC

Power is kinda just eh in Alabama right now

2020-10-30 15:33:40 UTC

But what’s the deal with just having popular vote?

2020-10-30 15:33:47 UTC

Popular vote doesn’t mean much bc there are more people in nutso liberal cities than republican places

2020-10-30 15:34:08 UTC

Unless every place has the same number of people we need the electoral college

2020-10-30 15:34:09 UTC

who thinks trump is gonna win the popular vote?

2020-10-30 15:34:14 UTC

The popular vote is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

2020-10-30 15:34:37 UTC

> who thinks trump is gonna win the popular vote?
@SamTheG I don’t know at this point. This election is even more confusing then 2016

2020-10-30 15:34:39 UTC

> who thinks trump is gonna win the popular vote?
@SamTheG sorry idt he will

2020-10-30 15:34:45 UTC

Plus it's like if 48 states vote red but say Cali and NY go blue but have more popular votes... why should 2 state dictate to the other 48

2020-10-30 15:34:45 UTC

me neither

2020-10-30 15:34:55 UTC

It's why we have the electoral college, so that we don't basically have California and New York deciding what happens nationwide

2020-10-30 15:35:03 UTC

if polls are very wrong trump might win the popular vote just barely

2020-10-30 15:35:05 UTC

It’s unlikely he will win the popular vote

2020-10-30 15:35:06 UTC

Equity, diversity, tolerance, openness, multiculturalism, cosmopolitalism, ~~communism, violence, lawlessness, mediocrity~~, fairness, justice, "freedom" and other words the left will tell you.

2020-10-30 15:35:06 UTC

Like last time

2020-10-30 15:35:06 UTC

i remember listening to someone complain about a state having the minimum of 3 electoral votes meanwhile california has like 55

2020-10-30 15:35:08 UTC

But that argument is just ‘people I disagree with have more people on there side’. If big cities are more liberal, that’s unfortunately just how it is

2020-10-30 15:35:23 UTC

The electoral college was only an issue when Trump won

2020-10-30 15:35:30 UTC

Big cities shouldn't dictate what happens in rural areas though

2020-10-30 15:35:34 UTC

i just can't believe that they have texas as a "toss up" in most polls

2020-10-30 15:35:34 UTC

They didnt care about it before then

2020-10-30 15:35:35 UTC

That’s not fair is the point

2020-10-30 15:35:48 UTC

Two states shouldn’t decide the government

2020-10-30 15:35:52 UTC

I’m not saying abolish the EC, I’m saying I would not care either way, keep it or abolish it

2020-10-30 15:35:53 UTC

Big cities cant survive without the rural area

2020-10-30 15:36:02 UTC

Only reason Hillary won the popular vote was because of California

2020-10-30 15:36:08 UTC

i care because pop vote would ruin the country

2020-10-30 15:36:13 UTC

Look at the map of the 2016 election by county, and then realize that even though damn near the whole country was red, Hillary still won the popular vote

2020-10-30 15:36:15 UTC

That basically means you don’t care if your vote is counted

2020-10-30 15:36:32 UTC

the thing is electoral college forces a candidate to win different regions of the country with different cultural identities and different type of mindset

2020-10-30 15:36:45 UTC

> Only reason Hillary won the popular vote was because of California
@Mr.Hashi#6960 but republicans would be so much more likely to vote it Cali if their vote actually mattered

2020-10-30 15:36:50 UTC

If California wasn’t in the equation, trump would won by 1-2 million votes

2020-10-30 15:36:57 UTC

like trump won the rust belt the south the great plains he even won an electoral vote up in maine

2020-10-30 15:37:12 UTC

But California matters, just because they are liberal doesn’t matter

2020-10-30 15:37:14 UTC

The fact that cities arent able to self sustain is why I think if any conflict does arise, it wont last long as the rural portions will cut off cities of supplies and then the cities will be unable to do shit cus they'll be fighting themselves more than anything

2020-10-30 15:37:17 UTC

But you dont always win electoral college

2020-10-30 15:37:49 UTC

You do if you win

2020-10-30 15:38:07 UTC

Just because there are more people in California doesn’t mean Cali should decide what happens in oregan and Idaho and Utah
