You've been here long enough you should know this isnt new
a long time ago there were some clowns wanting to raid other servers so they'd sometimes come in and post invites to servers to raid
i think there are some other reasons but just ask the person to pm you a server invite, its not that hard
and generaly its nice thing to do prevent to spammers/scammers etc
