```Performs a double-blind listening test between two tracks.```
2017-08-14 15:33:17 UTC
literally the only description
2017-08-14 15:33:27 UTC
do you not know what double-blind means
2017-08-14 15:33:39 UTC
do you? that isnt what double blind is
2017-08-14 15:33:51 UTC
what is double-blind then
2017-08-14 15:34:00 UTC
double blind is when there is virtually no information given before a test
2017-08-14 15:34:14 UTC
the ABX comparitor gives you all information other than what X is
2017-08-14 15:34:38 UTC
so you're saying because you know it's a test to see if you can hear difference it's not a true double-blind?
2017-08-14 15:34:55 UTC
pretty much
2017-08-14 15:35:20 UTC
at least to the extent of you not knowing if there is a difference/what the two files are
2017-08-14 15:35:53 UTC
ahhh, fair enough
2017-08-14 15:36:07 UTC
double blind is when the tester isnt in on it too afaik but that doesnt really apply for this either way
2017-08-14 15:36:29 UTC
yeah
2017-08-14 15:36:32 UTC
ohh
2017-08-14 15:36:38 UTC
the double blind refers to the tester and subject
2017-08-14 15:36:45 UTC
not the two files
2017-08-14 15:38:03 UTC
should I check any of these
2017-08-14 15:38:43 UTC
depends on the files, if youve properly converted the mp3 there should be no loudness differences, but tick it anyway incase it isnt so
2017-08-14 15:38:56 UTC
it's a 320 generated with LAME
2017-08-14 15:39:02 UTC
I did it myself yesterday
2017-08-14 15:39:25 UTC
do it with different styles of music too
2017-08-14 15:39:28 UTC
I will
2017-08-14 15:39:33 UTC
I have to make more MP3s though
2017-08-14 15:39:34 UTC
some shit definitely does fuck with the mp3 algorithm
2017-08-14 15:39:57 UTC
the majority is just either too shittily mastered to notice or is predictable
2017-08-14 15:40:59 UTC
you should be able to pretty reliably identify the MP3 with well recorded complex strings
2017-08-14 15:41:03 UTC
transients out the ass
2017-08-14 15:41:05 UTC
ohhh nonono
2017-08-14 15:41:19 UTC
I have FLAC because most of the stuff I download, is really well mixed and mastered
2017-08-14 15:41:37 UTC
and I also put in effort, because I listen to a lot of 70s stuff, to find the best masters/remasters
2017-08-14 15:41:55 UTC
for example hunting down Steve Hoffman's remaster of Aja
2017-08-14 15:43:09 UTC
especially really modern stuff with crystal clear production, the difference is immediate
2017-08-14 15:43:34 UTC
try V0 though next time
2017-08-14 15:43:49 UTC
variable is a bit harder to identify
2017-08-14 15:44:07 UTC
really?
2017-08-14 15:44:09 UTC
why so?
2017-08-14 15:44:19 UTC
I thought 320 sounded best?
2017-08-14 15:44:43 UTC
not sure why, but v0 definitely is better
2017-08-14 15:45:21 UTC
unless ive been given shit information
