for ~90% of music you can't as long as its properly done
go do an ABX test with good MP3 V0 files versus lossless
how are you supposed to set up double blinds for yourself anyway
abx isnt a double blind
then what's the point?
just install the abx comparitor in foobar
what do you mean what is the point, you don't know what X is
double blind is an entirely different issue
it is double blind
```Performs a double-blind listening test between two tracks.```
literally the only description
do you not know what double-blind means
do you? that isnt what double blind is
what is double-blind then
double blind is when there is virtually no information given before a test
the ABX comparitor gives you all information other than what X is
so you're saying because you know it's a test to see if you can hear difference it's not a true double-blind?
pretty much
at least to the extent of you not knowing if there is a difference/what the two files are
double blind is when the tester isnt in on it too afaik but that doesnt really apply for this either way
yeah
ohh
the double blind refers to the tester and subject
not the two files
should I check any of these
depends on the files, if youve properly converted the mp3 there should be no loudness differences, but tick it anyway incase it isnt so
it's a 320 generated with LAME
I did it myself yesterday
do it with different styles of music too
I will
I have to make more MP3s though
some shit definitely does fuck with the mp3 algorithm
the majority is just either too shittily mastered to notice or is predictable
you should be able to pretty reliably identify the MP3 with well recorded complex strings
transients out the ass
ohhh nonono
I have FLAC because most of the stuff I download, is really well mixed and mastered
and I also put in effort, because I listen to a lot of 70s stuff, to find the best masters/remasters
