Isn't firing someone because of their sexuality/race etc illegal? Even in my highschool it's in the rights that all members must receive their education regardless of sexuality, race, nationality, etc.
Workplace discrimination is already banned through the Civil Rights Act of 19XX (don't recall the year) The Supreme Court just confirmed that it extends to those groups. 2nd, adopting children is not a right and is not in the same category as workplace discrimination.
I think same sex and single people should not be excluded from adoption, but only if all hetero couples are taken. A child deserves a father and a mother
