How difficult is it to cut 2040 aluminium extrusions
what are you cutting it with?
getting a hacksaw or reciprocating blade made for it is the best option.
depending on how thick the extrusion is. can be a bear using a composite type cutter as it can gum up.

yeah, get a specific aluminum blade, not very expensive.
also maybe rig a miter box together

will probably cost around 40GBP to upgrade the entire frame
