Did Tyler just reveal unusual intelligence? He just said in his latest vid everyone has to take Calculus in high school. Maybe he did but I think you have to be in AP math to be taking Calculus in high school unless schools have changed since my youth. (Though I suppose that’s very possible)

2020-10-05 17:08:59 UTC

if you opt for more advanced classes, yes, you can take calculus in high school

@Razor Racoon I’m in Honors Pre-Calc as a Junior

2020-10-05 17:09:20 UTC

I'm in geometry as a freshman lol

2020-10-05 17:09:33 UTC

Yes, AP stands for “Advanced” ... uhm... something.

2020-10-05 17:09:39 UTC

Advanced Placement

2020-10-05 17:09:43 UTC

But it’s not the standard. That’s what I’m saying.

2020-10-05 17:09:43 UTC

And? Do you get to determine the value of the goods of another just because who owns the business?

2020-10-05 17:09:53 UTC

Thx, war dog!

2020-10-05 17:10:19 UTC

I determine the values of goods and services based on what the goods and services are worth

2020-10-05 17:10:50 UTC

Value is subjective. Agree. Wait, what are we talking about? Don’t make me scroll up. Haha

2020-10-05 17:11:00 UTC

@Razor Racoon piracy

2020-10-05 17:11:57 UTC

Okay, so are you saying that games that you would decide to steal through piracy have no value?

2020-10-05 17:12:59 UTC

No I’m saying it’s not worth $60 or more

2020-10-05 17:14:22 UTC

Would you steal printer ink from staples just because it's overpriced?

2020-10-05 17:14:52 UTC

Printer ink is pretty expensive 🤔

2020-10-05 17:15:09 UTC

...

2020-10-05 17:15:09 UTC

But no because that’s taking a physical item

2020-10-05 17:15:12 UTC

Well, the worth isn't up to you. And when you think of the amount of work, time, etc. that goes into making a game or movie, and all the people that get paid in the process, it is probably worth enough. Although all you may see is the corporation, each corporation relies on employees. If you do not believe it to be worth what the corporation is selling it for, don't buy it. But at the same time, no matter what you have determined the worth to be, it is theft and therefore wrong.

2020-10-05 17:15:29 UTC

There is a “limited” quantity of the cartridges for printer ink

2020-10-05 17:15:49 UTC

Some of these games cost hundreds of thousands or more to make

2020-10-05 17:16:08 UTC

There is a limited quantity in regards to server capacity as well. Even though you may not hold the game, it has a physical item value.

2020-10-05 17:16:51 UTC

He is in law school lol^

2020-10-05 17:17:24 UTC

And the "physical item" aspect fails to, especially when you begin looking into services...should we decide not to pay doctors and make hospitals free because we have determined the value to be less than what they charge?

2020-10-05 17:17:28 UTC

Alright then

2020-10-05 17:17:34 UTC

Think like this

2020-10-05 17:17:41 UTC

You don’t like what a company does

2020-10-05 17:17:43 UTC

No, don't tell us how to think.

2020-10-05 17:17:44 UTC

What do you do?

2020-10-05 17:17:52 UTC

You don’t give them money

2020-10-05 17:18:02 UTC

I don't support the company, but I also don't use their products.

2020-10-05 17:18:16 UTC

Theft is wrong, whether you agree with the company or not.

2020-10-05 17:18:48 UTC

But I’m saying piracy can be used as a boycott

2020-10-05 17:18:53 UTC

Do you know what goes into making a movie? My father is an actor and producer for several films that have been pirated. It costs them heavily and it makes it harder to pay the actors and crew. And if they can't pay them from the profits of the film, it has to come from pocket. This will also typically damage relations between the actors and crew, making it harder to hire them and when nobody is willing to work with a business then the business dies. And when a business dies, so do countless jobs.

2020-10-05 17:18:56 UTC

its different because almost all physical products you could buy can be bought from a dozen other stores, and several different companies produce something basically the same. you dont have that option with games, game devs, and game publishers.

2020-10-05 17:19:53 UTC

No...piracy is theft. Not boycotting. I fear you have misunderstood what a boycott is. If I go to a restaurant, eat the food, and then leave without paying, it is not a boycott, but theft. If I decide not to eat at the restaurant, that is a boycott.

2020-10-05 17:21:10 UTC

The spirit of the boycott is to show that you don't need them. Pirating only shows your dependence

2020-10-05 17:22:12 UTC

If you boycott a company

2020-10-05 17:22:33 UTC

You effectively cripple the company, as they don’t receive money from as many people

2020-10-05 17:23:20 UTC

Yes. But, boycotting is not theft. The definition is: withdraw from commercial or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest. By continuing to use their product, you are not withdrawing from interactions, but stealing their product.

2020-10-05 17:23:36 UTC

Lets say you want to boycott Ralphs, what you would do is go shop at Vons instead. Give the competitor the money. Not rob them.
