The whole objection to masks baffles me. The American people have been asked throughout history to make sacrifices for the good of the country. During the Great Depression and WW2, there was rationing, unprecedented selflessness in volunteering to go to war, women who stepped in to manufacturing jobs to keep production up, a media that helped to keep up morale, and laws against war profiteering. We had extraordinary leadership and there is a reason they are referred to as the Greatest Generation.

In this once a century pandemic that disproportionately affects the most vulnerable among us, we have feckless leadership that squabbles over petty issues and abdicates its responsibility to guide us through (who would rather order people back to work/school rather than establishing guidelines on how to do it safely); would deny help instead of determining how best to help; prefers finger pointing to finding common ground; politicizes the situation by encouraging CoVid deniers (because not everyone gets gravely or overtly ill); we have people who hoard goods to deny others access; and whiners who complain about having to wear a mask, yet want to get to the front of the vaccine line - because it inconveniences them to do so.

Even if wearing a mask reduced the spread by as little as 5% (though it is shone to provide much more), it would be worth it. It defies logic. My grandparents would be ashamed of us. They know what patriotic sacrifice really is... we dishonor them.

im a plumber and I was doing a repair in a kitchen... alone.. customer came in and asked me to wear my mask while i worked. then went into the next room and closed the door.. THAT i have a problem with

I'm having to wear a mask at home right now, because I am waiting on the results of my test. My wife and kids have amazing immune systems and are rarely sick, but I don't want to take any chances.

I don't think that is a real number... Early on in the pandemic, when we only has numbers for people that are symptomatic, we were tracking a 1 in 18 death rate nationwide. In MI, it was 1 in 10.5. NY it was 1 in 14. In CA, it was 1 in 40. When you factor in asymptomatic and mild symptoms, it is much lower and, of course, age. But still, it's not .03% and it is not the same as the flu or our hospitals would be over run each year.

Also, we don't even know what the real flu numbers are... It's a guess each year based on excessive unexplained deaths.

I do have a question that needa to be cleared. I was reading/watching various news this evening and noted about the unfortunate event yesterday. I noticed that NPR released their news on trump supporters storming the capitol on 1/6/21 @ 9:30am eastern time this is in their website.... BUT the march/entry to capitol didn't really happen in late after or early evening. The second notation i want to make is DC cops, military, were using pepper ball guns (same built with paint ball guns) how could they have shot dead 5 people?
When i did journalism class in high school, we need to answer basic questions such WHAT,WHERE,WHEN,WHY, and HOW. The reporting would then compliment each other. But the news in getting from cnn, npr, abc, and others were fragmented.
Can someone if it hasn't yet been done explain this happenings? Thanks. I'll posted on general chat too. I don't know where this belongs. Thank you.
