Anything else besides overall condemnation of political violence is the wrong position.
Agreed.
Can we condemn the Founding Fathers then?
And trying to pin it on your political opponents because you can't accept personal responsibility is worse.
Because this country was founded through political violence
In order to put a system of government that would hopefully eliminate the need for political violence... A system built on tolerance.
It didn’t.
Now, are we going to condemn the Founding Fathers or not
can we get a Kindergarten do over now?
I am fine with condemning political violence as long as we don’t pick and choose which political violence to condemn
Sure are, by today's standards standards 230 years ago were vastly different.
Gotta be constituent
Consistent *
Today, it would be unacceptable.
@AOH_Assassin I feel like if that is your position then you are operating outside of the realm of any political discourse and therefore prepared for the consequences and forego your right to commentary
Got it. We can’t be consistent. So, some political violence is okay
This idea that time doesn't change perception is kinda silly.
I literally told you by today's standards I can wholeheartedly condemn it.
To be fair, multiple times on here today people have been called out for saying “the dems” “the left” “the MSM” but the broad brush “trump supporters” is fine. I’m not offended I just see a tiny bit of hypocrisy. Sorry, had to say it...
Jeez, how inconsistent.
See how silly that sounds?
We can’t make up our own standards
Uh. Why not?
I agree wholeheartedly. I think these generalizations are indicative of the biggest hurdles we need to overcome as Americans
Because political violence is wrong regardless of time period
Sure, I can agree with that by today's standards.
That is very true. I just want it to be equal for both sides.
We also don't have slaves anymore.
Fair... I was going to say Conservatives... I was just trying to find a cute-ish way to say it was fake, because I've posted about it at length already. You're right though... I shouldn't have.
Really weird how time changes things.
If the same government tyranny in 1775 occurred in 2020, would you condemn political violence
Yessir, said this at least 3 times now.
Ok, then condemn the founding fathers — not by any time-dependent standards — but just because it was political violence
Nuance is something that exists to me, sorry.
If you’re against political violence, that cherry-picking nuance shouldn’t exist for you
thinking we can all condemn the MSM and propagating Fake News and yes i mean all of them! lets see if we can just get back to fact only reporting and let the people decide. i have not seen but maybe 2 claims that have been just the facts in yrs... lets lose all filters!
Hardly cherrypicking.
No I understand what you meant and you weren’t generalising all “trump supporters”, I just thought I’d point it out because I know a lot of conservatives who right now are seeing everything as hypocritical
I think the major difference at our founding was that the colonies were completely denied a political voice and representation. That is not the case today.
