With new borns, at least the first period, you sleep when the baby sleep sorta.

I'm trying to do that but I also have to work

For me, the first two months(?) I woke up every third hour to help feed the baby

I was lucky I was home on caring for a sick child (Swedish thingy) until the baby was declared healthy

my gf is off work for 6 weeks on maternity but I only got 1 week, my state's PFML rates wouldn't cover my paycheck so

damn, only six weeks? Then of to daycare or something?

no, when my gf goes back to work it will be part time, 2-3 days a week, we have family that have already offered to take turns watching him

we are pretty fortunate

that is good to hear. Family support is very good to have. My parents-in-law flew over here to help us the first few months. Amazing to have their help.
