There is still a constant demand to travel those distances to essential services, the problem is the non-modernized fleet of buses that are inefficient. The problem is the pricing and the time gaps

2020-12-19 22:42:57 UTC

there are no stops to those destinations

2020-12-19 22:43:05 UTC

we have around 4 grocers around here

2020-12-19 22:43:08 UTC

multiple banks

2020-12-19 22:43:16 UTC

and more restaurants that imaginable

2020-12-19 22:43:33 UTC

you simply cannot modernize the fleet, and reroute the buses to cover everything

2020-12-19 22:43:58 UTC

You can build bus stops, that isnt the problem

2020-12-19 22:44:23 UTC

the problem is the modernization can't be paid for, we don't have state budgets for township transport

2020-12-19 22:44:30 UTC

as we will never need it

2020-12-19 22:44:42 UTC

it may work in Sweden, but not here

2020-12-19 22:45:02 UTC

there will never be demand, we'd spend so much to get so little payoff

2020-12-19 22:45:13 UTC

we'd be taxing people at even more than we already do, which is a fuck ton

2020-12-19 22:45:18 UTC

specifically in my area

2020-12-19 22:45:37 UTC

I do not see why it wouldnt work over there, the only issue you seem to have is demand because of the low quality and supply aswell as relatively high pricing

2020-12-19 22:47:20 UTC

The tax issue isnt as important if you can get modern efficient buses that outperform private vehicles

2020-12-19 22:50:36 UTC

And if your area isnt capable of generating the tax funds, which I dont see why it wouldnt unless there is large unemployment. Then you should consider redistributing resources from areas who got more than enough funds for themselves to these areas who arent sufficiently productive

2020-12-19 23:02:34 UTC

not really, people don't want to wait, especially for normal things that are easy t get on their own

2020-12-19 23:02:38 UTC

our houses are too far apart

2020-12-19 23:02:43 UTC

spending outways the use

2020-12-19 23:02:57 UTC

people aren't patient

2020-12-19 23:03:05 UTC

don't want to be intervaled during scheduling

2020-12-19 23:03:07 UTC

etc.

2020-12-19 23:03:14 UTC

it's useless here in the states

2020-12-19 23:03:31 UTC

especially all the marketing just to get a handful of people to use an expensive bus service a handful of times

2020-12-19 23:04:12 UTC

we use a lot on police and fire dept. an excessive amount, because we're the township the rest of the county relies on

2020-12-19 23:07:10 UTC

What waiting times are you expecting for the suburbs?

2020-12-19 23:07:21 UTC

Between each bus

2020-12-19 23:13:56 UTC

I understand that people might be impatient, but a bus arriving every 15 minutes or so like in the suburbs where I went to a party with some of my pals I really doubt would be a problem. And considering I know a guy who is living in the only house visible from a stop gets a bus passing by every hour I dont think the issue here is as bad as you are making it out to be

2020-12-19 23:14:45 UTC

You could also have times of more dense supply and times of less dense supply in accordance to different demand at different times of the day or week
