The appalachian mountain folk
Or hillbillies as people call them today
Were ancestors of the scott irish
After the scottish Civil War the scottish were forced to move to Ireland
Where they became mixed with the Irish
They were treated something awful disliked by those around them and didn't feel like it was home to them
They moved to America hoping to find a new life
And get away from the monarch bastards
And moved to the secluded mountains where barely anyone else lived because of the rugged terrain
Except some German farmers and very few English
They brought with them their music and their love for alcohol xD
Which is kinda where country music came from tbh
I never knew any of that. Most i knew is about how poorly the irish were treated, and how they were slaves and all
The appaliachan folk were known to be very rough and hard to deal with

But in a fight they were very well appreciated
They ended up playing a key role in the revolutionary War
Being one of the first to start gorilla warfare they learned from the natives
The British had planned to have loyalists in appalachia to come out and fight for them and surround the appalachian people
No loyalists showed up
And the British were slaughtered
And got pushed back
It was a big victory for America at the time
After the war was over though
They started the whiskey rebellion for the US taxing their whiskey 😂
That one they lost
A majority of the south
That includes Texans
