how can that be part of meditation if the entire point of meditation is to rather cultivate thought or focus on a thought via mantra, chants, etc.?

i think superficially it can appear outwardly that they're doing the same thing, but if one meditates while doing the silent prayer than they're not really doing the silent prayer. to the converse if one is trying to meditate and does the silent prayer then they're not realyl meditating
