@nainani there have been

2020-12-11 20:48:42 UTC

but they were more localized

2020-12-11 20:48:44 UTC

not widespread

2020-12-11 20:48:53 UTC

Breonna Taylor happened before Floyd IIRC.

2020-12-11 20:49:05 UTC

March? I think? May?

2020-12-11 20:49:06 UTC

Why did the media decide to report and spread this news during a pandemic?

2020-12-11 20:49:44 UTC

It's mostly about the media and what they decide to put on the front page so people can know about things. Why weren't people spreading news beforehand?

2020-12-11 20:49:56 UTC

has the media ever not reported things to gin up tensions and create maximum outrage?

2020-12-11 20:49:56 UTC

@ImNotGas, you just advanced to level 17!

2020-12-11 20:50:19 UTC

Arbery was sparking outrage before Floyd IIRC.

2020-12-11 20:50:25 UTC

So was Taylor.

2020-12-11 20:51:37 UTC

ah yeah

2020-12-11 20:52:02 UTC

Floyd was sort of the 'last straw' moment.

2020-12-11 20:52:12 UTC

It's been sung about for 40 years

2020-12-11 20:52:29 UTC

50 years, since civil rights movement? I just can't believe it took this long

2020-12-11 20:52:35 UTC

it's really sad

2020-12-11 20:53:01 UTC

police should have dropped bodycam footage immediately

2020-12-11 20:53:03 UTC

but good for now, but I just feel too manipulated by media

2020-12-11 20:53:03 UTC

To be fair, changes like that take generations after generations.

2020-12-11 20:53:08 UTC

i have no idea why they didnt with the floyd thing

2020-12-11 20:53:32 UTC

is it true floyd had corona when he was arrested?

2020-12-11 20:53:36 UTC

@ImNotGas Ongoing litigation usually and investigations.

2020-12-11 20:53:45 UTC

Depends on jurisdiction.

2020-12-11 20:54:02 UTC

@nainani yes that came up in autopsy

2020-12-11 20:56:21 UTC

I don't like arguing in peoples deaths, but things can be taken out of context all the time

2020-12-11 20:57:35 UTC

i'd say the officers are culpable for manslaughter, it doesnt look like there was any intent there

2020-12-11 20:59:45 UTC

there is context, then there is out of context, i am confused because like ACAB, can these ultimatums always be true? can it be true that all cops are racist? or that there is always excessive force? I don't know. People's arguments against this claiming he was overdosing, he had corona. What other reasons than police brutality could he have trouble not breathing. But this just seems too hard to touch. How can we really know what happened unless we were there

2020-12-11 21:00:20 UTC

someone died. That is enough said. I don't like arguing it

2020-12-11 21:00:41 UTC

justice always seems to be lacking in these regards

2020-12-11 21:01:21 UTC

eh?

2020-12-11 21:01:27 UTC

im not making moral arguments

2020-12-11 21:01:31 UTC

its going to go to court

2020-12-11 21:01:35 UTC

and a jury will decide

2020-12-11 21:02:34 UTC

Justice just doesn't seem to prevail. It's always defense and offense. one word against the other. But you are right we will see

2020-12-11 21:03:08 UTC

just how people can get off when they were guilty. you shouldn't be able to manipulate the law in this way.

2020-12-11 21:03:33 UTC

well what you call justice another calls injustice, thats why we have an adversarial system

2020-12-11 21:03:44 UTC

its not perfect but its the best we humans can come up with

2020-12-11 21:03:52 UTC

agreed!

2020-12-11 21:04:06 UTC

Ugh, let's just hope that minority report is the future haha

2020-12-11 21:04:13 UTC

not! the future omg

2020-12-11 21:12:21 UTC

Gross neglect can constitute a charge of murder.
