@Maw especially if it is like California?

2020-12-06 18:47:55 UTC

It's one of those things that's legitimately making me want to go state-side again.

2020-12-06 18:48:00 UTC

It's worse than Cali.

2020-12-06 18:49:16 UTC

Coincidentally, my FOID renewal card arrived Saturday. It always gives me anxiety.

2020-12-06 18:49:19 UTC

Open carry doesn't exist, you need 2 licenses for handguns, "assault weapons" are prohibited.

2020-12-06 18:49:53 UTC

Transport of weapons can only happen within a locked case.

2020-12-06 18:50:11 UTC

@Maw. How is an Assault Weapon defined?

2020-12-06 18:50:25 UTC

@William Dinan That's the entire point of "Assault weapon"

2020-12-06 18:51:45 UTC

@Maw I would think an Assault Weapon could only be truly established after an Assault?

2020-12-06 18:52:14 UTC

@William Dinan Except that's not what assault weapon is, assault weapon isn't really even defined, that's the point.

2020-12-06 18:52:19 UTC

I've never transported not in a locked case anyway. Some other of those features seem...uh...problematic for me though.

Beyond that, what's different about the licenses such that you need 2?

2020-12-06 18:52:37 UTC

PAL and PAL-Restricted.

2020-12-06 18:52:49 UTC

PAL-Restricted is handguns/concealable weapons.

2020-12-06 18:52:54 UTC

And certain rifles.

2020-12-06 18:53:46 UTC

I haven't delved too in-depth on PAL-R classification, I presume semi-automatic rifles are covered there.

2020-12-06 18:53:48 UTC

@Maw. A hammer or Baseball Bat could be an Assault Weapon? In Theory?

2020-12-06 18:54:10 UTC

Sounds artificially complicated in order to obscure selective control. Not unlike attempts in another country I can think of.

2020-12-06 18:54:14 UTC

Though some semi-auto rifles probably aren't restricted either. I'm not entirely sure.

2020-12-06 18:54:27 UTC

@Zuluzeit Exactly.

2020-12-06 18:54:46 UTC

AR-15s were recently banned, and eventually will be enforced as mandatory buy-backs.

2020-12-06 18:55:33 UTC

@Zuluzeit Personal Pronouns are Controlled in Canada. Why not Firearms?

2020-12-06 18:55:43 UTC

@William Dinan Partially false.

2020-12-06 18:55:56 UTC

It's covered more as a form of harassment in the workplace.

2020-12-06 18:56:02 UTC

Way to rain on my Canada fantasy, jerks.

2020-12-06 18:56:09 UTC

Or just harassment in general.

2020-12-06 18:56:19 UTC

@Maw partially True then?

2020-12-06 18:56:29 UTC

Like 20% true?

2020-12-06 18:56:45 UTC

Horrendously misleading.

2020-12-06 18:57:22 UTC

@Maw. Got Ya! 80 % Liberty?

2020-12-06 18:58:12 UTC

Hahaha 80% liberty

2020-12-06 18:58:39 UTC

I didn't dig this Rabbit Hole @Zuluzeit

2020-12-06 18:58:54 UTC

I mean, sure, we can call it that.

2020-12-06 18:59:09 UTC

100% liberty would be pretty ridiculous.

2020-12-06 18:59:20 UTC

I'm still giggling about the phrasing. Priceless.

2020-12-06 18:59:32 UTC

@Maw. What percentage is acceptable?

2020-12-06 18:59:54 UTC

I don't think of liberties in mathematical terms.

2020-12-06 19:00:14 UTC

@Zuluzeit. I aim to Please...lol

2020-12-06 19:00:14 UTC

@William Dinan, you just advanced to level 10!

2020-12-06 19:00:21 UTC

That's why it's so funny tho.

2020-12-06 19:01:11 UTC

I feel like there are cases "where your freedom ends where my rights begin".

2020-12-06 19:01:19 UTC

@Maw. You assigned the percentage.
