Rats' lower incisors are opposable. They can split into a V shape so the uppers can fit into them like a lock

It bit into and sawed through half of her ear before she could get it off

2018-05-28 02:31:02 UTC

It had always been aggressive, and we had been trying to socialize that out of her.

2018-05-28 02:31:02 UTC

😬

2018-05-28 02:31:08 UTC

Yeah thats a gassing

2018-05-28 02:31:43 UTC

Petra went into the chamber kicking, then died with a smile when we dropped the last treat block in there.

2018-05-28 02:32:09 UTC

Place a bowl of baking soda inside, pour in an equal amount of vinegar, and close the lid

2018-05-28 02:32:37 UTC

3 minutes later, open it up and check for the tongue turning blue. Done

2018-05-28 02:32:56 UTC

Ok

2018-05-28 02:33:23 UTC

I'd expect the soda to be powerful enough to blow up the lid tbh

2018-05-28 02:34:00 UTC

Another way to humanely kill a rat is to pin their neck down, with your thumb, then give their tail a firm jerk

2018-05-28 02:34:09 UTC

It'll sever the spine

2018-05-28 02:35:12 UTC

Why not just break it's neck?

2018-05-28 02:35:15 UTC

Just in case you want to do this with a person use a disposable nitrogen canister, carbon dioxide is one of the more painful ways

2018-05-28 02:35:50 UTC

It almost severed her ear, my dude

2018-05-28 02:35:58 UTC

If the rat jews out, seems appropriate to me

2018-05-28 02:36:29 UTC

@Sdeck37 because putting myself in close physical contact with a known aggressive rat is a bad idea

2018-05-28 02:36:57 UTC

<:thvnk:332928260004642827>

2018-05-28 02:37:36 UTC

Dunno how aggressive she actually was in the end

2018-05-28 02:37:40 UTC

I'm surprised none of y'all have made bantz about me keeping rats and having a disorganized house being connected

2018-05-28 02:37:43 UTC

Or it?

2018-05-28 02:39:22 UTC

Tbh I don't care, I've dealt with catched mice and rats mostly with the water bucket method. Admittly there's nothing human in that.

2018-05-28 02:39:32 UTC

She. We named her Petra

2018-05-28 02:39:59 UTC

Her sister rat, Ender, got sick and died a few months before

2018-05-28 02:40:05 UTC

No Rat = female by default in German. That was my thinking.

2018-05-28 02:40:33 UTC

Rats only live like, 2 years under perfect conditions

2018-05-28 02:41:00 UTC

If I catch a bucket full of rats I suppose two barrels of birdshot would be more humane than water now I think of it

2018-05-28 02:41:18 UTC

Then again that is a waste of a perfectly good bucket

2018-05-28 02:41:42 UTC

Cut a wooden circle to fit, place it on top, then stomp

2018-05-28 02:41:51 UTC

>wasting bullets on rats

2018-05-28 02:42:01 UTC

>shotgun shells

2018-05-28 02:42:02 UTC

It wouldnt be sporting otherwise.

2018-05-28 02:42:04 UTC

>bullets

2018-05-28 02:42:10 UTC

Choose one

2018-05-28 02:42:24 UTC

A shotgun is like many tiny bullets

2018-05-28 02:42:47 UTC

Matthew, still sounds messy to clean after

2018-05-28 02:42:55 UTC

Hose it out

2018-05-28 02:43:05 UTC

I would simply bury the bucket
