It's not just that.
but you are going to make EVERYONE pay the price for years
It's the side-effects caused by covid-19 that exasperate preexisting morbidity.
there are almost no health studies that do not have income/wealth as a contributing factor.
I personally don't agree with the lockdowns, don't think they do as much good as politicians seem to think they do ... lots of studies that show it's a wash in terms of mitigating the spread
if you make the country poor, the poorest people in society will pay the price. maybe not in the next few months but in years to come
Uh, generally this is because you know, you're poorer and usually this means your in worse health.
You're making the argument of socialized healthcare though, which I'm not sure you're intending.
poor people are the least healthy, live less, more likely to have more comorbidities
making all these people go out of business will make everyone poorer and in worse health
so you might save the 80+ year olds but it is not without cost to literally everyone else
Also 80+ CFR is more like 30-40%.
Not 10%.
social medicine is just the young subsidizing the care costs of the old - which is fine.
but a consequence of older people living longer is more older people
and hence you need more young people to subside their care and the cycle continues
Last I checked, the retirement age was abysmal.
And young people were significantly more inclined to be unemployed.
Than people 45+
well that depends, do you want somebody aged 80 piloting your plane? or a police women 76?
so in reality an increasingly smaller proportion of people subside the care costs of an increasing elderly population
Retirement age is now getting really close to the life expectancy. You're talking about less people on pension.
Right now it's around 10-15 off if I recall.
@Maw yes thats true, but as i said if people are going to be working to 80 what jobs are they going to be doing? its not obvious to me that people will accept people 70-85 doing a great number of jobs
Well the 80+ population is still really, really small.
still that's over 16M in the US
For sure.
there is a rumor going around that the women in the GA video doing the counting when everyone had gone home has been arrested, confessed and gone into protective custody. still trying to find official confirmation....
Mexico said the lockdown is a form of dictatorship. Did anyone think of mexico as more free than America?
I have only read that she went into Hiding. No arrest.
the guy speaking is annoying.
AZ filing a complaint with SCOTUS about subpoenas? Lol. That seems fishy.
lol
