I don't know who thinks taxation is money creation, but it's revenue.

2020-12-22 22:37:17 UTC

Pretty much, but now that politicians have heard of MMT you can bet it’s coming.

2020-12-22 22:38:13 UTC

As tax comes from somewhere that isn't the government itself.

2020-12-22 22:38:24 UTC

Printing money is when the government 'makes' money.

2020-12-22 22:38:30 UTC

In like, the simplest terms.

2020-12-22 22:38:32 UTC

I'm sure the one way rate of a U-Haul is much cheaper entering California than leaving.

2020-12-22 22:38:37 UTC

And then we won’t have the reserves currency. In other words maybe have a backup plan. It’s crazy they said they don’t care about moral hazard. That’s insane for a Fed President to say that.

2020-12-22 22:39:06 UTC

Oh yeah. Texas might build a wall soon lol

2020-12-22 22:39:41 UTC

You have to talk to the MMT professors. 😂 there has been a lot of pushback

2020-12-22 22:40:02 UTC

Nearly the moment you print money prices inflate to counteract that.

2020-12-22 22:40:08 UTC

It's extremely short-term gain.

2020-12-22 22:40:23 UTC

What are some possible ramifications of printing and adding 2 Trillion to U.S circulation? How would that affect things from here on out?

2020-12-22 22:40:27 UTC

Then you go through that cycle and become venezuela.

2020-12-22 22:40:56 UTC

As in most Instant Gratification?

2020-12-22 22:41:01 UTC

When people talk about how socialism was a threat I laughed. I am not laughing now. Sure it’s better than some socialist states but that’s like saying “I prefer this cold to the one I got last season”.

2020-12-22 22:41:26 UTC

If you get inflation high enough your currency is basically done for @Adam135

2020-12-22 22:41:26 UTC

I don't think socialism is a massive threat. Personally at least.

2020-12-22 22:41:45 UTC

Want a good economy meme?

2020-12-22 22:42:01 UTC

Warning: Loud audio.

2020-12-22 22:42:12 UTC

Money printer go brrr?

2020-12-22 22:42:35 UTC

Basically.

2020-12-22 22:42:49 UTC

If you start monetizing debt you basically are going to have socialism in some aspect. You are going to have unlimited government.

2020-12-22 22:43:09 UTC

Not the classical definition but something congruent.

2020-12-22 22:43:52 UTC

If you try and Polish a Turd you are usually left with Stinky Fingers!

2020-12-22 22:43:53 UTC

The way China does it is with more of a softer touch of communism. In terms of consolidating power through financial prowess, loaning money to smaller countries and using debt as a leverage to expand influence.

2020-12-22 22:44:33 UTC

Social policy atop of capitalism.

2020-12-22 22:45:43 UTC

Mythbusters episode ... they literally did it

2020-12-22 22:46:06 UTC

They are about to open their financial markets. But to me it sounds like they are trying to further entangle themselves in free markets. Then will come the time when they have real control. One cool thing they have is these free economic zones. They are actually more free than places in the US. You can setup shop incredibly fasts

2020-12-22 22:46:18 UTC

Exactly lol

2020-12-22 22:46:23 UTC

https://www.usdebtclock.org/ I imagine this is many economists' worst nightmare.

2020-12-22 22:46:36 UTC

You are still left with a Shiny Turd?

2020-12-22 22:47:26 UTC

https://fiscalship.org this should be required learning for all high school graduates.

2020-12-22 22:48:29 UTC

People should know more about how money is disturbed

2020-12-22 22:48:34 UTC

I would be happy with Civics.

2020-12-22 22:50:05 UTC

I don’t even think my high school offered economics classes. Or accounting. And they don’t teach valuable skills right now. If I was telling 14 years old what to learn I would say SQL, Python, Salesforce, Excel, you can go make $40 an hour right now with those skills.

2020-12-22 22:51:18 UTC

Instead they convince kids to march out of school for hotly debated topics and teach them that capitalism is hurting them so the only answer is minimum wage. I mean I do live in Oregon though so it’s probably extreme.

2020-12-22 22:52:08 UTC

Or just be able to Balance a Checkbook or the ability to figure out how to make Change on a Purchase.

2020-12-22 22:54:37 UTC

Exactly. My father was born so long ago that Latin was taught everywhere. 😂 they really had better education. Minus some of the rhetoric, but you can overcome rhetoric. It’s hard to overcome a lack of math, reasoning or writing skills when you’re an adult. Not impossible but hard. I feel for these kids.

2020-12-22 23:01:32 UTC

That's the same reason I changed my major from Political Science to Computer Science.

2020-12-22 23:04:28 UTC

Makes total sense. There are things I would have liked to study but I also wanted a career 😂
