I'll let others answer why Christianity is right, because my answer isn't well thought out beyond "it's historically accurate, and therefore correct". Having values is meaningless if your life is also meaningless. Your values mean nothing, as does everything else you do because your life and death are effectively the same; without a life beyond your worldly being, you exist only to suffer.

well its philosophically accurate too

christianity has the right conception of God, unlike any pagan religion

christianity specifically is right since our God became man for our redemption, fulfilling the prophecies and restoring man

but yeah its historically right too

thats just not an autistic enough approach for me

How do I respond an atheist argument about how “religion keeps humans from progress” or points like such

what do they mean by progress

like to make all our men into women and all our women into men?

Sorry if im wording it in an odd way

I don’t see much evidence for science being held back by religion, considering most scientists weren’t secular and many clergy were the equivalent to scientists in the Middle Ages and early renaissance

Of course it’s silly to say “religion” as if they are all the same

And the most religious countries progressed the fastest

Or most Christian, since Muslim countries weren’t too quick

Probably should, I don’t do enough praying

avoid what leads you to indulge in it

ill pray for you too, now that I have this free time that I would have otherwise spent engaging in degenerate acts against God

a cool thing about the pandemic at my parish church is that the pews are marked to where you sit in one row, and leave the other row vacant. The reason for this is so that father and the decans can walk through those ailes and give communion to those who can recieve

so basically we recieve communion kneeling

Its sort of a bad faith question because we can't really definatively say religion held us back without seeing a world where there wasn't religion to hold people back

Also like other people said, priests in Europe basically were the intellectuals of that age

Without them, its pretty safe to say we would have been wayyyy worse off
