I got a question: What do Catholics believe gets them saved? Just wondering since a lot of you seem to be genuine Catholics at least

2020-12-06 22:33:11 UTC

I can’t tell based off google whether or not they believe in a works based salvation or not. It’s probably more nuanced than I think it is. Could someone explain?

You must have valid baptism to initially be saved, after that you simply must not be in mortal sin

2020-12-06 23:37:00 UTC

True

2020-12-06 23:37:44 UTC

Be baptized in the catholic church, and dont die in a state of mortal sin

2020-12-06 23:50:44 UTC

2020-12-06 23:55:23 UTC

@Mark R ask your religious questions here

2020-12-09 00:01:15 UTC

There is a spiritual side to man

2020-12-09 00:01:28 UTC

Better to follow God than something else

2020-12-09 00:21:48 UTC

I'll let others answer why Christianity is right, because my answer isn't well thought out beyond "it's historically accurate, and therefore correct". Having values is meaningless if your life is also meaningless. Your values mean nothing, as does everything else you do because your life and death are effectively the same; without a life beyond your worldly being, you exist only to suffer.

2020-12-09 10:52:02 UTC

well its philosophically accurate too

2020-12-09 10:52:22 UTC

christianity has the right conception of God, unlike any pagan religion

2020-12-09 10:53:48 UTC

christianity specifically is right since our God became man for our redemption, fulfilling the prophecies and restoring man

2020-12-09 10:54:25 UTC

but yeah its historically right too

2020-12-09 10:54:33 UTC

thats just not an autistic enough approach for me

2020-12-09 23:08:17 UTC

How do I respond an atheist argument about how “religion keeps humans from progress” or points like such

2020-12-09 23:42:43 UTC

what do they mean by progress

2020-12-09 23:43:05 UTC

like to make all our men into women and all our women into men?

2020-12-10 00:02:41 UTC

The context ig is at the points where “secular advancements (or advancement in general) were held back by religion”, i.e. science advancement, political growth,
