why don't the people who work in goods in just take the keys from the driver and hand them back when they are loaded. That's what they do at our place

2020-12-16 21:34:05 UTC

Lots to catch up Phil, on many fronts. Watch all the links/streams

2020-12-16 21:34:19 UTC

hey folks

2020-12-16 21:34:25 UTC

Hey

2020-12-16 21:34:52 UTC

@JP... shouldn't have to be done

2020-12-16 21:35:05 UTC

Hey @JP

2020-12-16 21:35:40 UTC
2020-12-16 21:36:17 UTC

@Phil Whitehead True, but for the few times it happens it is deemed necessary

2020-12-16 21:36:24 UTC

Hi Pablo

2020-12-16 21:36:44 UTC
2020-12-16 21:37:44 UTC

@JP... perhaps the customer shouldn't offer bottom dollar on the shipping fees... If you pay the minimum, don't expect any more than the minimum provided. Those who actually do there job expect to be paid

2020-12-16 21:39:05 UTC

That's true too but that's global capitalism for you, it is a race to the bottom with wages

2020-12-16 21:39:05 UTC

@JP... doesn't really matter to me. I don't haul general merchandise. None of you pay worth a squat.

2020-12-16 21:40:41 UTC

If you require quality service, you'll have to pay for that quality. And it darn sure doesn't come @ $1 a mile

2020-12-16 21:40:43 UTC

Most of the truckers I deal with are from Romania or Poland now

2020-12-16 21:41:30 UTC

The UK truckers moved on to earn better wages, good money to be had on tankers

2020-12-16 21:43:15 UTC

My employer should be paying me as a UN interpretor, some of these guys can barely speak any English

2020-12-16 21:44:59 UTC

Which of course will not happen, my wage will continue to fall down to the minimum wage and when I leave I will probably be replpaced by someone from another country too

2020-12-16 21:45:00 UTC

GG @JP..., you just advanced to level 9!

2020-12-16 21:45:05 UTC

@JP... I believe that, they've been taking over the trucking industry for a long while now. They will haul anything for nothing. You shippers and receivers love that

2020-12-16 21:45:18 UTC

It's a 50/50 problem.

2020-12-16 21:46:30 UTC

Hi guys, It's sickening that a country would let that happen to its people

2020-12-16 21:47:56 UTC

*In Tony Montana voice* "It's capitalism, baby!"

2020-12-16 21:48:26 UTC

sorry was watching scarface earlier

2020-12-16 21:50:40 UTC

All over the EU

2020-12-16 21:51:16 UTC

I'm hoping many will return home after Brexit but they will always pull in cheap workers from somewhere

2020-12-16 21:51:42 UTC

After I got divorced I had to start doing home repairs and gardening for prop mgmt and homeowners, during a 5-year recession. When things improved I could charge homeowners $18/hr and wouldn't endure a prop mgmt for less than 25 or 30

2020-12-16 21:52:07 UTC

that's pretty good Lloyd

2020-12-16 21:52:55 UTC

I don't let the low wages bother me, I like working there and I live very frugally. I think a frugal life gives you freedom

2020-12-16 21:53:26 UTC

The more you earn the more they expect from you

2020-12-16 21:54:13 UTC

It was good. I'd remodeled about 29 dilapidated houses and could do anything
People like to call one , reliable worker

2020-12-16 21:54:53 UTC

@The Modern Conservative must have took a break today

2020-12-16 21:55:38 UTC

I'm in a similar business Lloyd

2020-12-16 21:56:21 UTC

Things are booming over here for tradesmen but only because people couldn't go on holiday because of Covid so they're spending on their houses

2020-12-16 21:56:31 UTC

Lots of freedom and meet lots of interesting people

2020-12-16 21:57:05 UTC

Yep, I couldn't be employed ever again. I'm lucky my dad taught me a trade

2020-12-16 21:57:41 UTC

I only work for private customers, no site work, no way

2020-12-16 21:57:49 UTC

lol Clare

2020-12-16 21:58:02 UTC

I tell my boys, they can't import trades

2020-12-16 21:58:08 UTC

Sorry I'm reading and appreciating as you all chat.

2020-12-16 21:58:26 UTC
