I use Discord and FB Messenger/Telegram among my friends so I don't really have this problem

FBM is real botnet but the Lite mobile app is quite good and the social features are a major plus

You can plan events and check who's coming, send updates, etc

tfw almost all communities im part of are in discord

and most of important friends too

IRC has some in emerency

Also zoomer meme hours my close friends talk exclusively using fucking Snapchat group chat

and if i ever happen to have video chats its appear.in for me

even tho i dont agree with their latest reforms of the service

(they require sign up for new rooms where before the room was just generated when you wrote something after the url

joining pre-generated rooms still is possible as guest tho

maybe to limit amount of rooms created/more effectively ban noncompliant rooms

and before their free-tier allowed 12 video feeds by default

now its 4 participants or pay 10 dollars month

(sure data costs something so understandable

but the fact that they dont allow you to "chat only" for rest of the people watching

so much lost potential

tho lately i have been testing discords video call feature and its "ok"

nothing major but "ok" for 1 on 1 chat
