I wouldn't recommend getting a bird on a whim, they're a massive commitment, cockatiels live for 15-20 years and they need regular socialising time with you or they end up legit hating you

a lot of people get a bird and leave it in a cage as an ornament, they end up plucking all their feathers out and killing themselves from loneliness

hate seeing birds on gumtree in a shitty small cage with no toys, makes me want to go on a murderous rampage and save the wee thing

the most surprising thing owning a bird is that they're really intelligent, almost like mini flying dogs, they learn tricks, they like to cuddle, they like socialising and playing
