2016-07-21 23:43:55 UTC

now that im settled in and have my chink food, what software should i actually use to do the recording test? i honestly havent thought about doing just audio tests before

2016-07-21 23:46:54 UTC

try REaper 64

2016-07-21 23:46:58 UTC

sorry

2016-07-21 23:47:00 UTC

REAPER 64

2016-07-21 23:47:09 UTC

tis' free as in cheap as free

2016-07-21 23:47:19 UTC

as in free beer

2016-07-22 00:06:10 UTC

the bm-700 is quieter

2016-07-22 00:06:17 UTC

2016-07-22 00:06:52 UTC

that being said, i had to turn off my A/C for my snowball

2016-07-22 00:07:05 UTC

the bm-700 didnt even pick it up

2016-07-22 00:15:26 UTC

weird

2016-07-22 00:15:31 UTC

still souds nice

2016-07-22 00:15:55 UTC

you can alwasy adjust gain for both mics if you want to make the 700 sound louder

2016-07-22 00:16:03 UTC

I'll just have to adjust the bm-700's volume to be a little higher, they were both at 64%

2016-07-22 00:16:24 UTC

what's it plugged into?

2016-07-22 00:16:41 UTC

phantom power then to my computer

2016-07-22 00:20:54 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/189466684938125312/205841571109666818/bm-700v2.mp3

2016-07-22 00:21:05 UTC

i upped the volume to 80% and i think it sounds a bit better

2016-07-22 00:21:46 UTC

and again, i dont think you hear my A/C which is less than 2 feet from the microphone

2016-07-22 00:21:58 UTC

but the snowball made it so obvious when i was first trying it

2016-07-22 00:23:39 UTC

try recording after changing the levels in the recording devidces option

2016-07-22 00:23:52 UTC

listen to the device untill the static background is gone then re record

2016-07-22 00:23:57 UTC

see if that changes anything

2016-07-22 00:29:04 UTC
2016-07-22 00:29:08 UTC

setting two on the back of the snowball makes the A/C less noticable, but I don't think I'd get rid of it entirely

2016-07-22 00:29:34 UTC

it's interesting

2016-07-22 00:29:57 UTC

the bm 800 isn't that much different is it?

2016-07-22 00:30:22 UTC

not as far as I'm aware, I just have the 700 cause it was on sale for $11

2016-07-22 00:32:34 UTC

http://www.gearbest.com/speakers/pp_193552.html that one was a tiny bit cheaper when I came across /csg/ for the first time about a month ago

2016-07-22 00:35:34 UTC

here they are, both of your original samples cleaned up in reaper

2016-07-22 00:36:07 UTC

11 bucks for a mic that sounds that nice when cleaned up is not bad

2016-07-22 00:37:02 UTC

I did have to get phantom power for it, cause it was pretty quiet without it, but the neewer one was like $17.50 so its still cheaper than the snowball

2016-07-22 00:37:28 UTC

yeah and it is clearer than the snowball

2016-07-22 00:37:46 UTC

I don't really know how to clean up audio, these are programs I've never really worked with

2016-07-22 00:37:57 UTC

i had to learn about it just then
