or making the lens bigger sacrificing the size of the phone

2016-08-01 10:30:32 UTC

Of course, but the chinks can work on putting better cameras in their phones, while keeping the price low.

2016-08-01 10:33:08 UTC

requires more resources

2016-08-01 10:33:17 UTC

chinks just need to steal the blueprints

2016-08-01 10:35:14 UTC

@tablecat >I don't want to carry around a DSLR
Don't, carry around anything from a used some years old high end compact to a MILC and you'll pretty much have DSLR quality that's somewhat pocketable

2016-08-01 10:39:57 UTC

(pro) Cameras are at a level now that is incredible yet slightly flawed. Resolution is like Anon123 said absurdly high, so high that it's more than all but the sharpest high quality (and priced) lenses can't handle it. Some niche cameras are literally near military nightvision tier in light gathering - though never combined with high resolution. In-body that works really well stabilisation is also somewhat newly developed yet fucking amazing. Question is how miniaturising this will go. As far as I'm concerned phone cameras have all the resolution they deserve, and the view should be shifted towards larger photon receptors or whatever it's called so that the low light performance is dramatically improved.

2016-08-01 10:40:36 UTC

But sensor technology and high end lens manufacturing is far too complex for chinks, even if the could get ahold of the blueprints.

2016-08-01 10:41:10 UTC

Hell my phone pics take forever to upload already. I dont need 20mp images

2016-08-01 10:41:54 UTC

Downscale them and they'll look sharper
Most phones now have higher resolution than their lens can actually provide. Hence why it looks a bit blurry at 100%

2016-08-01 10:43:10 UTC

Eh, most of the blurrines in my photos comes from shaky hands and hdr

2016-08-01 10:43:50 UTC

Right
Dynamic range can and should be improved too

2016-08-01 10:43:58 UTC

No more faking it

2016-08-01 10:44:02 UTC

Then you'd want a camera with a laser auto focus

2016-08-01 10:44:19 UTC

No, but phase detection :^)

2016-08-01 10:44:39 UTC

If you can't keep it stable for long, you want something that snaps shots quickly

2016-08-01 10:44:56 UTC

Helps if you frequently take shots from a bike or similar, too

2016-08-01 10:45:21 UTC

Autofocus isn't much of an issue with phone cameras since the sensor is so tiny the lens has such a short focal length it has a very deep DoF / hyperfocal

2016-08-01 10:45:55 UTC

Though if the sensor size grows with the obvious quality improvement that gives, focus could become more of an issue

2016-08-01 10:46:07 UTC

Even so, I feel that most mobile phone cameras are super slow at snapping shots, given their size

2016-08-01 10:46:10 UTC

I have a g3, wich has shitty dynamic range no matter what

2016-08-01 10:46:43 UTC

Think Nokia, Sony and Zeiss teamed up to make what was pretty much a miniature high end compact camera within a phone

2016-08-01 10:46:52 UTC

But it had windows OS so no one bought it

2016-08-01 10:47:02 UTC

Fuck I have to leave work in 20min, must finish work now~

2016-08-01 10:47:06 UTC

Right, that Windows Phone one with a huge ass chassis

2016-08-01 10:47:14 UTC

And it had a fat hump on the back to contain the sensor and lens

2016-08-01 10:48:40 UTC

In 5 or so years Sony might have figured out how to make tiny sensors capture light efficiently, that'll be when most compact cameras turn pointless

2016-08-01 10:49:43 UTC

Deapite Nokia + Zeiss efforts with their 42 megapixel monstrosity, **no one** has made a phone camera worth a damn in low light as far as I know

2016-08-01 10:52:54 UTC

Afaik the v10 did pretty good in low light, but I dont follow phone crap much....

2016-08-01 10:53:24 UTC

Supposedly the Samsung S7 has the best low-light phone camera

2016-08-01 10:54:39 UTC

No clue what the standard is, though

2016-08-01 10:55:05 UTC

Sony A7S 💪

2016-08-01 10:55:33 UTC

That goes for what, 2k bucks?

2016-08-01 10:56:18 UTC

Think I saw one of those at a B&H

2016-08-01 11:01:09 UTC

Tfw cleaning period blood off the floor for 9$ an hour

2016-08-01 11:05:08 UTC

there a size guide to buying clothes?

2016-08-01 11:05:23 UTC

usually order a size or two up from your actual size

2016-08-01 11:05:27 UTC

don't buy chink fashion

2016-08-01 11:09:59 UTC

as it turns out its cheaper on amazon

2016-08-01 11:10:13 UTC

3.50 for the same thing where as on ali its £7

2016-08-01 11:10:34 UTC

clothes really aren't worth buying from chinks

2016-08-01 11:11:37 UTC

I'm considering buying Mi Band 2 for my gf, once it's on sale for $30
