My friend has some pretty good behringer active speakers

2016-08-09 23:24:58 UTC

The teardowns of behringer stuff on youtube are fun watches

2016-08-09 23:25:12 UTC

Always complete chinky horror shows inside

2016-08-09 23:26:24 UTC

But they're cheap and can't go wrong with that

2016-08-09 23:26:49 UTC

Lol, Got any cheap USB to XLR interfaces?

2016-08-09 23:27:38 UTC

their active speakers were knwon to be bad

2016-08-09 23:27:43 UTC

But I think the new ones they sold were pretty good

2016-08-09 23:27:57 UTC

at least the ones my friend have sounds good, and apperantly were cheaper than other choices

2016-08-09 23:27:57 UTC

Usb to XLR wot

2016-08-09 23:28:20 UTC

External dac, basically. Suppose it doesn't have to be XLR.

2016-08-09 23:28:50 UTC

Mine was usb powered

2016-08-09 23:29:05 UTC

18v phantom power, xlr input on front

2016-08-09 23:29:13 UTC

can they drive XLR over 5V USB?

2016-08-09 23:29:18 UTC

chinky chink

2016-08-09 23:29:19 UTC

Lol no

2016-08-09 23:29:25 UTC

So why does USB to XLR exist?

2016-08-09 23:29:32 UTC

Usb to XLR cables are a chink trick

2016-08-09 23:29:41 UTC

Every time someone buys them it barely works

2016-08-09 23:29:49 UTC

Or barely fives you the performance of a somaks

2016-08-09 23:29:52 UTC

Somake*

2016-08-09 23:30:02 UTC

Has happened dozens of times in /csg/ already

2016-08-09 23:30:17 UTC

sounds horrible

2016-08-09 23:30:21 UTC

if a somake would beat the cable

2016-08-09 23:30:32 UTC

It's comparable

2016-08-09 23:30:42 UTC

but a somake is far cheaper

2016-08-09 23:30:55 UTC

And it turns your mic volume to 9000%

2016-08-09 23:31:16 UTC

So it sounds loud

2016-08-09 23:31:41 UTC

I only noticed the flat scratchy effect once I got into audio production

2016-08-09 23:31:48 UTC

Then binned the somake

2016-08-09 23:32:16 UTC

Made a joke video using somake but took it down because no one got it

2016-08-09 23:32:58 UTC

I wasn't talking about the cables, no. I meant an external dac that was also a phantom power supply.

2016-08-09 23:33:10 UTC

Presonus is cheapest

2016-08-09 23:33:17 UTC

Then Focusrite and up

2016-08-09 23:33:31 UTC

For a DAC/48V Phantom Power

2016-08-09 23:34:03 UTC

The behringer one isn't a dac as far as I can tell, just a mixer

2016-08-09 23:34:36 UTC

yeah, seems like an amplifier

2016-08-09 23:34:47 UTC

Even that would be fine, actually. Get hardware amplification over software.

2016-08-09 23:35:22 UTC

You can get one of those cheap, it's the first to have dedicated drivers which improve your PC audio

2016-08-09 23:35:28 UTC

100$. Figured
