It the mic and this arm were both on sale for like 12$ each

2016-08-12 21:42:02 UTC

doesnt that thing get in your way

2016-08-12 21:42:55 UTC

Nah

2016-08-12 21:43:29 UTC

Clamped on the back of my desk sitting between my two displays

2016-08-12 21:43:37 UTC

Sits boomed way over my head when not in use

2016-08-12 21:43:48 UTC

You can have it arcing over your desktop

2016-08-12 21:43:58 UTC

And angle the microphone downwards

2016-08-12 21:44:12 UTC

Just look up setups and you'll see how other people have set it up

2016-08-12 21:44:35 UTC

Yeah, I just discovered a better way, though. Where it`s between my keyboard and face. Picks up my voice much better without ever being in the way

2016-08-12 21:47:24 UTC

Got an older picture. Taken when it was dark out, and with my shitty old phone. Excuse the darkness and lack of quality.

2016-08-12 21:47:25 UTC
2016-08-12 21:48:25 UTC

When angled that way, I would just pull it down so the mic was at about forehead height.

2016-08-12 21:51:59 UTC

Meme'ing aside, aren't the condenser mics severely overkill for 99% of people, when cheap, good lapel mics exists?

2016-08-12 21:52:37 UTC

The mic on my headset is perfectly adequate.

2016-08-12 21:53:13 UTC

Lapel mics are very susceptible to cable noise and whatnot

2016-08-12 21:53:22 UTC

And vibration

2016-08-12 21:53:29 UTC

"Hey OP, just wanted to say you're doing a great job, the news is just like before. One thing tho, I feel like you're a bit more shilly than the previous OP.
Think you'd better drop the discord and chinkshit links before they get abused again and we get another thread drama.

Cheers!"

2016-08-12 21:54:31 UTC

Lol what?

2016-08-12 21:55:03 UTC

Some shitstirrer in the thread

2016-08-12 21:55:33 UTC

Huh.. can`t tell if troll or retard.

2016-08-12 21:56:30 UTC

@Aerione Right, yes, of course, they aren't as good as condenser mics, no doubt about that. But I don't believe that condenser mics are worth the effort, money and space it takes, since it's really overkill for most people.

2016-08-12 21:56:59 UTC

Well, 23 bucks isn't much

2016-08-12 21:57:02 UTC

Dude, if you saw how much pne of those used to cost

2016-08-12 21:57:04 UTC

But I guess

2016-08-12 21:57:57 UTC

Closer to 40-50 with the mic, stand, and phantom PSU

2016-08-12 21:58:09 UTC

But that`s still really cheap for the quality you get.

2016-08-12 21:58:28 UTC

If you get an arm, I suppose you could get a desktop tripod and save 10-15$ there.

2016-08-12 21:58:43 UTC

Nah

2016-08-12 21:58:47 UTC

Mic + stand is 23 bucks

2016-08-12 21:58:59 UTC

And that used to be Studio shit ten years ago

2016-08-12 21:59:04 UTC

Still need phantom power.

2016-08-12 21:59:09 UTC

You can get away very cheaply if you've got an external sound card

2016-08-12 21:59:47 UTC

What, the Somake? It was established it was pretty bad

2016-08-12 21:59:51 UTC

Nah

2016-08-12 22:00:02 UTC

The Somake is pretty bad indeed

2016-08-12 22:00:40 UTC

I bought one just to try it out, and it was far worse than the shitty USB audio soundcard I got years ago

2016-08-12 22:00:49 UTC

Lmao, "Oddly Jameson bottle shaped vr box arrives"

2016-08-12 22:01:48 UTC

@tablecat And oh, I was referring to discrete sound cards

2016-08-12 22:02:00 UTC

Didn't realize I typed "external"

2016-08-12 22:02:45 UTC

My SB Audigy Live is actually pretty capable of driving the mic, although I still prefer the phantom power
