@Magnius sure if you happen to have nearly free managed switch what happens to have those functions on it (not all cheap L2 ones are greated equaly) and in those cases you would still have multiple NICs (on the switch) but using only 1 to back and forward to firwall just hindering your throughput incase isp every upgrades your speed
