It isn't doubling from nowhere. That's the FEDERAL minimum wage. That's the absolute lowest it can be anywhere in the country.

many states have >10$ minimum tho

But most states have their own minimum wages that are higher, yeah

there are a lot of states with less than 10 dollars minimum

Minnesota, where I live, has a 15$ wage that's rolled out by 2021 or something like that
