so results probly vary in future patches

2019-08-31 19:18:02 UTC

(he didnt get 4k desktop even to work with 4k TV :D

2019-08-31 19:18:32 UTC

I'm assuming the system is still in its infancy, and will need future work to fully implement the hardware as shipped.

2019-08-31 19:19:10 UTC

That, and the 4k support will be better put to desktop work rather than trying to stream two different 4k Crunchyroll feeds.

2019-08-31 19:21:02 UTC

your other option is Rock64 if single desktop is fine for you (well single proper size hdmi port at least*

2019-08-31 19:22:16 UTC

i think tinker board and odroids newest support it too

2019-08-31 19:22:20 UTC

could make for a fun little project, rn I just use Plex on my main pc

2019-08-31 19:22:22 UTC

buut ~cant say for sure

2019-08-31 19:24:26 UTC

add Jackett to your list too for proper support

2019-08-31 19:25:15 UTC

and ofc Sickrage if you want proper video library manager

2019-08-31 19:25:23 UTC

aaaand what else there is to make it all in one htpc ?

2019-08-31 19:26:25 UTC

(at some point you get frustrated to the list and either use DietPi-config tools for it or AtoMiC toolkit :D

2019-08-31 19:27:32 UTC

and force love of god "Force Encryption" on every fucking thing

2019-08-31 19:28:25 UTC

and with sickrage you get showsrage android menu for managing stuff more easily :P

2019-08-31 19:29:05 UTC

but as always only watch open and free licensed movies <:thonkang:327933449597878312> as piraty is big no no

2019-08-31 19:32:21 UTC

See, I was pondering on the Rock64, but I wanted an SBC for game emulation inside the case of a portable TV I scrounged from an old camper van.

2019-08-31 19:33:28 UTC

Uhh, in other words I was wondering if the Rock64 would be better than the RasPi4 for game emulation. I think the Pi would be better overall for processing ability, as well as aftermarket support.

2019-08-31 19:34:01 UTC

Like, the Rock64 doesn't have much of a community and the emulation scene will not be as robust.

2019-08-31 19:34:31 UTC

as long as Lakka supports it is there that much problem

2019-08-31 19:34:43 UTC

it is X64 system after all

2019-08-31 19:36:02 UTC

i mean if stuff what are pretty much equal to it like XU4 odroid can handle most of what Lakka has to throw at it ?

2019-08-31 19:36:27 UTC

unless you really desperate need that niche support for your Atari 7800 ....

2019-08-31 19:37:05 UTC

Name some good FREE movies @Tervy besides the blender ones

2019-08-31 19:37:35 UTC

I was thinking about power draw too, but it's tough to find good benchmarks for the Rock64. Bear in mind the SBC I need would have composite video out for the portable TV to read from.

2019-08-31 19:38:33 UTC

@Kimichiboi i think there is list somewhere in wi9kipedia fort your needs :P tho not all of it are "good" by everyones terms

2019-08-31 19:39:52 UTC

from absurd stuff like Valkamaa and Route 66 to Blender stuff

2019-08-31 19:40:14 UTC

also ofc whole rebuild Potemkin silent movie :P

2019-08-31 19:40:51 UTC

(thaats about all i can remember)

2019-08-31 19:43:09 UTC

@Iren Masot there does exist 5V1A hdmi > composite for cheap from china too .. but yeah forget the powerdraw if you plan emulate stuff anyway :P

2019-08-31 19:43:20 UTC

it will be running on fulldraw whole time it emulates anything

2019-08-31 19:43:24 UTC

no matter what you get there

2019-08-31 19:43:35 UTC

--nvm

2019-08-31 19:47:02 UTC

https://youtu.be/imkSdlbXB_U these videos really motivate me to git gud

2019-08-31 19:47:46 UTC

I wouldn't want to use a converter, as I'm hoping to run the TV from the original battery source. It uses 6 "D" cell batteries at 9 volts, and the TV is stated to consume 10W during regular operation. I want to keep power draw as low as possible for this application.

2019-08-31 19:51:09 UTC

wait ... you want to strap that thing to same batteries..

2019-08-31 19:52:06 UTC

standard D-cell has 4 ish Amphours (from top of my head iirc) at 1.5v (or 12Wh if you will ?

2019-08-31 19:53:10 UTC

I could check again, but I think it's closer to 15 for alkaline, and 4 for rechargeables.

2019-08-31 19:53:51 UTC

yeah might be that im remembering zinc-carb ones as herpderp

2019-08-31 19:54:04 UTC

but even alkalines are at 20ish Wh

2019-08-31 19:54:47 UTC

figuring out how much playroom you have here after the panel draws what ever it wants (full bright colorblend continous animation case ?)

2019-08-31 19:55:12 UTC

It's been a few months since I looked last, but I remember mathing out that the TV would run for maybe 6 hours with no other power draw, and I was thinking about half that time if I really maxed out an SBC.
