2019-07-27 18:42:38 UTC

Although, I am buttpained that he didn't actually say how much this cost him vs buying it new

2019-07-27 18:43:31 UTC

True

2019-07-27 18:43:36 UTC

Must have been cheap though

2019-07-27 18:43:52 UTC

maybe the only really expensive bits being a mainboard I suppose

2019-07-27 18:44:29 UTC

There's parts shops on eBay and AliExpress but that's riskier because they can send defective stuff over and blame it on the shipping

2019-07-27 18:46:44 UTC
2019-07-27 18:47:18 UTC

Yeah, I think I remember the vid saying the battery was like 3.50, and the logic board was 30ish

2019-07-27 18:51:01 UTC

Issue is the network bands

2019-07-27 18:51:24 UTC

especially US ones

2019-07-27 22:07:21 UTC

thinking about building a home server

2019-07-27 22:07:45 UTC

with ryzen 3200G, is it fine?

2019-07-27 22:08:52 UTC

also im super confused about AMD sockets

2019-07-27 22:09:04 UTC

so apperently there are different versions of AM4 or something?

2019-07-27 22:09:18 UTC

so I need an mITX AM4v3 for it to work?

2019-07-27 22:34:47 UTC

wat

2019-07-27 22:34:47 UTC

no

2019-07-27 22:35:40 UTC

am4 is the socket, b350/b450/x470/x570 are the chipsets on the motherboard, theoretically all of them should work fine

one of the biggest problems with ryzen 3rd gen is that the motherboards that support it out of the box are the newest x570 boards but they're really overpriced right now because they have features like pci 4.0 and some other shit

2019-07-27 22:37:13 UTC

and the older boards need to have updated bios'es to work with ryzen 3rd gen

2019-07-27 22:38:10 UTC

its easier and cheaper to buy last gen components, there is a ~~deal for the 2600x for $130 right now~~, and i just paid $200 for the 3600 💀
