no but there are fucktons on dhgate @Nekros

2019-02-17 19:31:06 UTC

took me over a year to convince myself to buy one but it was worth it. Buy it goys

2019-02-17 19:31:23 UTC

it's more pleasant to work with that any ThinkPad I've had

2019-02-17 19:31:35 UTC

you got a really good deal on it though, wouldve you paid the full price for it?

2019-02-17 19:31:45 UTC

that's a good question

2019-02-17 19:31:59 UTC

I would probably have gone for a higher performance version paying the full price for it

2019-02-17 19:32:07 UTC

not the core m3 version

2019-02-17 19:32:49 UTC

the core m3 version is very bad from a price/performance point of view

2019-02-17 19:33:07 UTC

which one do you have now?

2019-02-17 19:34:20 UTC

the lowest end version

2019-02-17 19:34:46 UTC

are you gonna add more wam

2019-02-17 19:34:56 UTC

can't, it's soldered

2019-02-17 19:35:00 UTC

flip it for more and invest that money into a higher end version, fren

2019-02-17 19:35:24 UTC

I've run docker and monodevelop on it today, it runs fine

2019-02-17 19:35:33 UTC

that's about the most performance-hungry thing I do on a laptop

2019-02-17 19:35:54 UTC

also the battery lasted for almost 6 hour of software development with 3 docker containers running

2019-02-17 19:36:03 UTC

higher perf version will take more battery

2019-02-17 19:36:26 UTC

I didn't take pictures of the open laptop but about 50 % of the laptop guts are battery and it lasts really long

2019-02-17 19:36:57 UTC

I think if I actually stopped those containers when I didn't need them, which were running MS-SQL, Kestrel and Elastic Search, it would have lasted longer

2019-02-17 19:38:13 UTC

the CPU on the other hand sucks, I converted a 2 hour movie with ffmpeg to burn-in the subtitles because VLC was unable to stream subtitles over chromecast, it took almost 5 hours to burn in the subtitles into a 2 hour 1080p h.264

2019-02-17 19:38:50 UTC

while my desktop computer (Ryzen 7, 32 GB Ram) took about 15 min

2019-02-17 19:39:16 UTC

of course we are comparing a low-end laptop to a higher-end desktop but 15 min vs 5 hours for the same task

2019-02-17 19:47:04 UTC

how do I go about finding a remote for a home cinema speaker system that went out of production like 15 years ago?

2019-02-17 19:47:31 UTC

you dont

2019-02-17 19:47:40 UTC

just buy a univrsal remote and hope the codes work tbh

2019-02-17 19:48:00 UTC

^

2019-02-17 19:48:06 UTC

how to know what universal remote might work with it

2019-02-17 19:48:12 UTC

do you have an old xiaomi phone? Like, redmi note 3 pro?

2019-02-17 19:48:22 UTC

the old redmis have an IR blaster

2019-02-17 19:48:25 UTC

yeah I do and I use the ir blaster for it

2019-02-17 19:48:27 UTC

mi a1

2019-02-17 19:48:33 UTC

you can teach them all codes

2019-02-17 19:48:35 UTC

but Im not the only one using it

2019-02-17 19:48:53 UTC

I kept my old RN3P just to use it as a remote for basically everything

2019-02-17 19:49:19 UTC

a remote that you have to recharge every other day?

2019-02-17 19:49:51 UTC

I found one on ebay but its 1. expensive 2. is the ugliest thing in the world

2019-02-17 19:53:29 UTC

No in flight mode when using it only a few times a day, without apps in the background, it lasts 4-5 days

2019-02-17 21:01:38 UTC

you can even charge it from tvs anyway so i guess its alright
