2019-06-03 12:08:26 UTC

I wonder if I can get a good deal on samsung ssds on ebay

2019-06-03 12:10:59 UTC

@StickyDonutHoles Kingdian no?

2019-06-03 12:11:04 UTC

King what

2019-06-03 12:11:18 UTC

it's in the old info graphic

2019-06-03 12:13:55 UTC

Ah thank you

2019-06-03 12:15:20 UTC

Kingdian s280

2019-06-03 12:15:35 UTC

Is it good

2019-06-03 12:17:37 UTC

Yes

2019-06-03 12:23:15 UTC

Good

2019-06-03 12:58:56 UTC

@StickyDonutHoles SSD prices have dropped so low this year that you're better off getting a named brand than to save money on a chink one with questionable quality

2019-06-03 12:59:02 UTC

SSD prices are no longer insanely high

2019-06-03 12:59:12 UTC

yep

2019-06-03 12:59:23 UTC

Ah okay

2019-06-03 12:59:31 UTC

people have reported their chink SSDs dying

2019-06-03 12:59:34 UTC

The only thing the SSD needs to run

2019-06-03 12:59:37 UTC

but either way just get a good named brand tbh

2019-06-03 12:59:38 UTC

Is Linux

2019-06-03 12:59:41 UTC

And its programs

2019-06-03 12:59:48 UTC

You think 120gb is enough?

2019-06-03 12:59:58 UTC

240 gb to be safe tbh

2019-06-03 13:00:15 UTC

while linux itself wont take that much space, 120 is way too small nowadays

2019-06-03 13:00:16 UTC

You sure I shouldn't go with 500gb for Linux?

2019-06-03 13:00:20 UTC

But

2019-06-03 13:00:27 UTC

I have 750gb of hdd space

2019-06-03 13:00:37 UTC

go for 500 then

2019-06-03 13:00:49 UTC

I will go for 1tb then

2019-06-03 13:01:53 UTC

just get the samsung 860

2019-06-03 13:01:58 UTC

those are very durable

2019-06-03 13:13:47 UTC

Might have to test Samsung's warranty program as one of my 850 evo partly died 3 days ago

2019-06-03 13:15:45 UTC

Couldn't boot, could after 2 reboots, bad sectors reported by some progs but not others (chkdsk and S.M.A.R.T. reports tell me it's fine, acronis true image [that I highly regret not setting up last week when I had time] tells me it can't read some sectors)

2019-06-03 13:17:39 UTC

Damn

2019-06-03 13:17:42 UTC

Tried Tinydisk?

2019-06-03 13:27:45 UTC

What's this?

2019-06-03 13:39:57 UTC

you don't really need kingdian, you can get a 1tb/$100 from a real-ish brand now

2019-06-03 13:40:28 UTC

samsung = realish brand

2019-06-03 13:40:32 UTC

wat

2019-06-03 13:40:42 UTC

you can't get a samsung 1tb for $100
