<:thinkjojo:333980344044879872>
in countries with non encrypted police radio, sometimes yes
UK is a no go definitely, they're all on that Motorola encrypted
was able to listen to hospital chatter with my Baofeng tho
>not just getting the cyptographic key from uk police radios
@Comfy I did find a list of different emergency services frequencies for west yorkshire, I'll have to test them out once I get my baofeng
yeah I think I found the same list before, a lot of them were inactive or dead
the most consistent frequencies I found were for taxi dispatchers
@androidcrawler dutch police radios require authing with the transmission towers
it's not just some client side encryption that you can break
fuig
steal a radio and use its authentication chip?
they'll realize the radio is stolen and blacklist/come track it down
what if you just duplicate the chip data
what happens if two radios with the same authentication send a ping
you can't duplicate the chip data
what if you had two of the same
what happens then
does the tower connect to whichever ones it finds first?
no idea
I think cracking the Motorola stuff in the UK takes some doing, probably dark web encryption key purchases or some shit
but not worth the hassle
@Comfy what baofeng you got? 5r?
I sold mine a while ago but I had the 5r yeah
in yellow
