For me that was why I became Flat Earth. I saw Norfolk Harbor from 40 miles away. Impossible were the earth not Flat. I had seen many mountains prior to even thinking is the earth flat. So many were far too far away to be seen. I questioned those stupid ball earths with mountains on them as they looked nothing like I saw. We went to the Salt Flats when I was growing up and a few times as an adult I went there. Never saw anything but flatness.
I remembered all of this but it was not enough to rid myself of Cognitive Dissonance 60 years of it by then. However I was close. Seeing so many pictures of flat oceans, lakes and so much more. Pictures just made by tourist on a trip or by people selling windmill acceptance. I made sure it was no flat earther who did the pictures.
So when I had to stop the car before crossing the bridge to Virginia Beach and saw Norfolk Harbor. That was it. Even seeing the shore in Virginia Beach was not enough. It was close to thirty miles away from there. But those sailboats and large boats in the Harbor. That did it. We saw Sailboats all over the place. Across the water to Virginia up to Maryland. All of them we saw in their entirety. We were on a bridge about 20' above the water.
From then on I made it clear. I believe the earth is flat. What evidence do you have it is a ball. Since then no one has presented any real evidence. Just stupid NASA pictures for the most part. Some fisheye lense pictures. I know enough about fisheye to explain to them that is invalid.
